It's OFFICIALLY 2020, meaning we can finally let y'all in on the secret behind our monthly pop-ups! As you may know, we've discontinued our Indie Club, but that gave us room to really showcase some of our favorite independent dyers and companies to highlight each month with more variety in yarn bases, colors, and projects!!
Click on one of the offered pop ups below to see what that month had to offer!
January - La Bien Aimee
To start the year out strong, we selected Aimee from La Bien Aimee. Aimee dabbled in playing around with the Kool-Aid method of dyeing yarn back in the early 2000s but didn't start really getting into the swing of things until 2015, and the rest is, well, knit-story! Starting only 5 years ago in her kitchen in Paris, she's now grown to be a staple in the indie world. Her eye for color really shines through her love for intricate colorwork, and we. Are. Loving. It! Being able to wake up in Paris and draw inspiration from the daily hustle and bustle and complex architecture of the city is a dream, and Aimee is living it!!

February - mYak
mYak is a love story written with yarn for Tibetan culture by Paola and Andrea in Biellese, Italy. Appreciating the rich traditions and personal respect for their work, Paola and Andrea fell in love with the nomadic yak herding community. From the land to the people to the yaks themselves, mYak admires and holds them in high regards, respecting their traditions as they work together to make such fantastically soft and supple fibers! They've also made the conscious choice of non-depigmenting their fibers as a way to show respect for the environment and maintain the natural beauty derived from these yaks.

March - Fully Spun
Fully Spun was created by Brooke Addams with a goal in mind to allow makers to truly express themselves through the colors of their yarn! By taking a step back and observing her surroundings, she found beauty in things that are normally passed by and created a new world of color to get lost in! Brooke fell in love with the look of handspun yarn and set out with a goal to make her yarn mimic how it looks and feels by playing with the dyeing process and ending up with something fun and fresh!

April - Vrinda Yarn Co.
April Fool's Day may have just passed, but we're sure not foolin' around with announcing our next pop-up pick! Vrinda Yarn was born out of a passion for inspiring others and finding their inner creativity through peace and meditation. Marrying the soothing worlds of fiber arts and mindful breathing, founders Nikki and Jay found the perfect place to let their love for art truly blossom! Like all artists, Jay wanted to find a new hobby to dive into, and one fateful day, Nikki suggested dyeing yarn, and now the rest is knit-story! Getting to experience creating color stories and combinations was a dream come true as their fascination grew! Vrinda Yarn always wants to find shades that speak to the maker's souls, making it their goal to have at least one color in their arsenal for every artist out there! Each colorway is named after places or things that are special to the duo, like memories of family trips or hidden gems based on their love for pop culture.

May - Rosy Green Wool
May has finally arrived, which means it's time for us to wake up and smell the wool (literally!) with our fifth Pop-up shop of the year! For people like Rosy and Patrick of Rosy Green Wool, this is their reality every day! The creation of Rosy Green Wool was brought on by Rosy's want to better herself and understand the products she was using in her knitting. By knowing exactly what goes on behind the scenes, she was able to ensure healthy sheep and responsible making. You know that saying, "When you want something done right, you do it yourself"? Well, Rosy Green Wool took this statement to heart, striving to be the best they could be from the color payoff in their scrumptious strings all the way down to how they get their wool. Coming exclusively from controlled organic farming, Rosy Green Wool proudly shows their GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) label, ensuring that none of their fibers contain mulesing!

June - Neighborhood Fiber Co.
Have you ever wanted to reach out during a thunderstorm and touch the rainbow that appears on the horizon, but it always seems to be just out of reach? Well, Karida, the mastermind behind Neighborhood Fiber Co. managed to bottle up that brilliant color and spread it over her wide array of bases, making a simple way for all makers to harness those gorgeous tones for their own projects! Drawing from the beauty found in the city, from skylines to graffiti, she found her calling with the saturated shades and earthy neutrals.

July - Qing Fibre
Today, we're celebrating our seventh Popup with a parade! As we march onward in learning about these shops, we add a new parade float to our own lineup! It's about time we hop over the pond to meet up with Qing Fibre (pronounced: ching) in England! 2020 marks Qing Fibre's 4th birthday! Dreamt up by the color-crafter herself, Layla (Qing) Yang began her journey with a lust for eye-catching, variegated shades that transform your stitches right before your eyes! Ethically sourced from Peru and England and hand-dyed in her London-based studio, Layla set out on a mission for vibrant, unique shades that everyone can find an interest in! Each skein is meant to make your project stand out no matter what kind of maker you are!

August - Long Island Yarn and Farm
August is finally in full swing, and we're here to celebrate with free shipping through the entire month and our eighth pop-up of the year! Yeah, you read that right. EIGHTH. Where has the time gone?! For this occasion, we're taking a field trip over to Long Island, New York, to visit Long Island Yarn and Farm! This particularly excited our newsletter writer, Wren (that's me!), who comes from Long Island, himself!
Tabbethia is a rock star, finding her footing in the world of fiber and establishing her business in 1996! She's always been passionate about animals, even grabbing an animal science degree, so this career choice was a no brainer for her! She likes to keep things on the natural side, letting the fibers of her animals speak for themselves with their soft, earthy color palettes. That's part of the joy of shearing because no two batches are exactly alike! That, being said, she crafted a palette of shades exclusively for this pop-up, having fun with this new skill under her belt!

September - Cowgirlblues
It's safe to say we're officially at the tail end of the year, and we gotta say - it's been a wild ride! We have to address the elephant in the room - 2020 has been a mess, and one of the biggest things helping us through this remarkably tough year has been our monthly pop-ups! We get so much joy by sharing new yarn with you guys, especially in such lovely shades and soft, squishy bases! This month is no exception with the wonderful women over at Cowgirlblues all the way in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Cowgirlblues team is like a big family (kinda like Jimmy Beans!), so walking in those doors is like visiting a second home filled with love, friendship, hard work, and learning opportunities. Inspired by a certain book stating that even cowgirls get the blues, this yarny paradise was born to empower women and create a business in one of the most unequal societies in the world where people of color are disproportionately affected. With a goal to help struggling families and create an unbreakable bond between these women, creating gorgeous, supple fibers are just a bonus!

October - PassionKnits
PassionKNITS Yarn is where luxury meets the sumptuous nature of our favorite yarn blends! Created by Ain Munn, PassionKNITS Yarn is how she spreads her love to the world with bright, vibrant colors and imaginative names! Growing up in Queens, New York, Ain learned how to crochet as a child from her grandmother and aunt, and she fell back in love with yarn after taking a knitting class in Baltimore. Ever since that fateful day, Ain experimented with gorgeous color accompanied by meaningful names and, of course, passion for the craft!

It's scary how fast this year went by! We're already looking forward to November and our 11th pop up of the year! Can you believe it!? This year has simultaneously flown by while also standing completely still - some days we would wake up and not even know what month it was, let alone what day it was - how weird is that! We aren't the only ones that felt this way either! Since it's almost November, we thought we would hop on that train and announce that Amano Yarns is our next pop up!
