We invite all levels of maker to join us in the Jimmy Beans Wool shop for some fun (as well as your daily dose of fiber) and learning where we have Beans (staff) on hand to help teach and guide you through new techniques, ideas, and skills to add tools to your metaphorical making arsenal. Beginner Knitting, 2 sessions
Class Instructor: Cindy Williams
Date and Time: March 9th at 10:30AM-12:30PM & March 16th at 2:00-4:00PM
Class Description: Have you been thinking of taking up knitting or maybe you'd like to refresh your basic knitting stills? Join us for beginner knitting, which will take you through casting-on your stitches, knitting, purling, binding-off, and working in the round! Depending on time, we will discuss good first time projects, choosing the right yarn and needles, basic pattern reading, and more! We will include a basic potholder pattern, and a basic beginner hat pattern in this class.
Materials Needed: Worsted weight yarn, wound, US 8 / US 9 circular knitting needle or straight needles if you'd prefer, Stitch Marker *If you are new to knitting, we suggest coming into Jimmy Beans Wool 30 minutes early, so that we can help with yarn selection, winding your yarn, and selecting needles.*

Introduction to Mosaic Knitting

Class Description: Learn the art of of mosaic knitting in this hands-on class. Mosaic knitting is a versatile technique that allows you to create stunning geometric designs using simple colorwork. This class is designed to introduce you to the art of mosaic knitting and guide you through the process of crafting beautiful and functional items. In this class, you will learn the basics of mosaic knitting with two contrasting colors to create a geometric pattern, while completing a square that can be used as a face or dishcloth, or make multiple squares and fashion your very own mosaic-knit blanket!
Materials Needed: Two skeins of contrasting colored yarn, worsted weight, size 7 or 8 needle. Straight needles can be used for this project, or if using circular needles, 24" or 32" will work. Cost of the pattern is included in the class fee and will be provided at class. *If you are new to knitting, we suggest coming into Jimmy Beans Wool 30 minutes early, so that we can help with yarn selection, winding your yarn, and selecting needles.*

Crochet the Way You Want It - Drop-In Always Welcome

Class Description: Learn crochet or take your skills to the next level. Just get the basics or gain knowledge to make you a master. This class offers crochet the way you want it, meeting you where you are at and helping you gain the skills to reach your goals. Do you want to create blankets? Sweaters? Shawls? Toys? Lace? Handbags? Are you looking to learn Tunisian Crochet? Interlock Crochet? Mosaic Crochet? The only limit to this class is your own imagination!
Materials Needed: Hooks, yarn, to work on your desired project. If you are new to the craft: medium weight yarn and a I/9/5.5mm crochet hook. *Please come to class with your yarn wound, if you need assistance winding please arrive at class 30 minutes early.*
Class Fee: $75 for 3 classes; $95 for 5 classes; $35 for drop-ins (per class)

Session Two: Needle felt an abstract, colorful bookmark or greeting card
Class Instructor: Lauren Gandolfo
Date and Time: April 2nd; 4:30PM-7:00PM
Class Description: Learn to work with special needles and wool roving to create a (3" by 6" or 4" by 6") bookmark or greeting card to share or keep. In this class all levels are welcome where we will blend colors together in a small, easy to complete wooly painting . These adorable creations will be glued or sewn to heavy cardstock for a fun and unique keepsake. All levels are welcome in this class. No previous experience necessary.

Beginner Knitting 2.0

Date and Time: April 6th & April 13th; 10:30AM-12:30PM
Class Description: Can you complete the knit stitch but are ready to take it a step further? Join us for Beginning Knitting 2.0. In this two session class, we will walk you through different yarn weights, and different needle sizes, fiber types, and more! Second to learning to knit, is wanting to learn how to fix a stitch if we mess up! Dropped stitches, twisted stitches, and everything in between will be covered so that you are confident to complete your make at home! Session two will cover learning a new stitch all together! The purl stitch is a must know for ribbing, design work, colorwork, and so much more. We will provide a basic hat pattern where you will practice knitting and purling in the round.

Session Three: Needle felt an ornament or quirky piece of jewelry

Class Description: In this session discover the possibilities of needle felting in 3D! Using colorful wool roving, we will learn how to needle felt in the round by creating funky and adorable balls that can be hung as ornaments or jewelry. Special adornments like beads, yarn and feathers can then be added. All levels are welcome in this class. No previous experience necessary.

Session Four: Needle felt your favorite animal or pet!

Class Description: Bring a photo in of a beloved pet or animal and learn how to needle felt in 3D! This joyful and easy class we will learn how to break down any animal into simple shapes and then put them all together into a replica of your photo. All levels are welcome in this class. No previous experience necessary.
