| Fully Spun Pop-Up, Namaste Sale, Pom Pom and Tosh! Fully Fun with Fully Spun - our March Pop Up is Here!!! | | |
We've officially hit the first full week of March, which means we can finally introduce you to our third pop-up of the year! This month, we're delighted to be focusing on the bright, fun fibers of Fully Spun Yarn, just in time for spring!
|
|
Fully Spun was created by Brooke Addams with a goal in mind to allow makers to truly express themselves through the colors of their yarn!
By taking a step back and observing her surroundings, she found beauty in things that are normally passed by and created a new world of color to get lost in! Brooke fell in love with the look of handspun yarn and set out with a goal to make her yarn mimic how it looks and feels by playing with the dyeing process and ending up with something fun and fresh!
|
Fully Spun Sock Fingering was so eye-catching that we just couldn't help ourselves! In the world of making, we value creativity and unique ways of doing things, and that's exactly what this yarn does! Hand-dyed BEFORE it's spun, each skein is a one-of-a-kind superwash masterpiece that results in a gorgeous, marled effect in the skein - this process results in striped gradients no matter the project you make!
This pop-up is super-special because we have a design by Tian Connaughton taking the spotlight alongside Amy Gunderson! Tian's patterns are fresh and interesting for knitters and crocheters alike, drawing inspiration from her surroundings and finding beauty in everything. One of the most important things we've learned from Tian is that looking back on old projects is a wonderful way to review where we were when we created them - whether it be a certain emotion, a vacation, or just sitting at home, it's humbling to see your own growth through your favorite hobby!
This month is special because we not only have an interview with Brooke from Fully Spun, but one highlighting Tian Connaughton as well! Find out the inspiration for the patterns, yarn names, color stories, and so much more on our blog!

Everywhere you look, everywhere you go,
There's some Tosh (there's some Tosh)
Core shades to knit into! That's right - you could say we've got a full (ware)house of Tosh! The clouds rolled in late Saturday night, and we watched in awe as we prepared for the incoming cold front. As it turns out, we were hit with a storm of strings to stock our shelves with instead!
The Core 150 Collection of colors from Madelinetosh includes long-time favorites like Ceremony, Coquette-Deux, and Optic, but also features shades that are brand new to the JBW family, like Filtered Day Dreams, Ultramarine Violet, and Wilted! This collection gives us new opportunities to combine colors and fades into gorgeous explosions of color in our next project!
|
Sometimes, that's the only way you can accurately describe a combo of colors - an explosion! Almost like a party-popper went off in your bag! And, speaking of popping off, this shawl by Dana Fehrenbach (A.K.A. dMarieKnits) has gained a lot of attention for its playful use of color in bold, striking stripes using the Sporks Out colorways (with Grasshopper) on Farm Twist!
Like the old legend states, if a maker visits a yarn store and picks out some vibrant shades, that means there's gonna be an early spring, hehe! We're channeling that warm energy this month with a kit for Dana's aptly named "Squirrel Shawl"!

Don't see a color you like available? You can order any shade offered from Madelinetosh on our website regardless of our on-hand inventory, and we will dye it for you! Please note, though, that this method will take longer to ship as it will include dye and dry time!

Adrienne's Accessories!
We makers don't get enough credit for the dedication we put into our craft. There, we said it! Some people assume it's just picking out a pretty color and then making something, but there is just so much more that they miss with our passion! Not only do we need to account for the season and amount of yarn needed for whoever our newest endeavor is for, but we need to have the correct size of tools, maybe some moisturizer on the side (we get it, wool can be drying!), and enough space to properly block it! And don't even get us STARTED on pilling potential! Nothing is more frustrating than making a sweater out of our favorite merino yarn, wearing it a few times, then raising our arms and get slapped in the face with something horrible - pills in our armpits! Can't we get a break!? We already set aside a huge amount of time and energy into making it, and now we gotta deal with pills on it!? UGH!
To combat those sneaky little fuzzballs, Gleener came up with the Ultimate Fuzz Remover! Featuring three fabric-safe edges, you can use this neat notion on just about any project so you can kiss those tiny annoyances goodbye! The Ultimate Fuzz Remover also features a built-in lint brush for finishing and even getting rid of pet hair!

Aaand we're live! We've been talking about it for a few weeks now, and it's our pleasure to finally announce that the Beans for Brains Scholarship applications are now live and available on our site! There are separate options for the Regional Scholarship and the Community Service Scholarship. We ask that starting on April 1st (and no, this is not a prank), all applications must be sent to scholarship@JimmyBeansWool.com.
Looking for something to do in the meantime? Get in the mood by picking up a skein or two of the newest, limited edition colorway from Madelinetosh, appropriately named "Beans for Brains"! This bright combination of colors is available in Farm Twist and donates 25% of the proceeds back into the Beans for Brains Scholarship fund! By doing this, you also receive a free pattern for the BFBB (Beans for Brains Beret) designed by Amy Gunderson!
Psst! Next week, we're planning to unveil something big! Be sure to keep a lookout on the Jimmy Beans Wool Instagram (@jimmybeanswool) on March 13th! We can't spill the beans just yet, but just know that it may or may not involve all of our Beans for Brains sponsors and rhymes with shmiveaway, hehe!

Project On Our Needles!
Laura's Urth Somber Shawl
Last year, Laura (AKA Jimmy) fell in LOVE with the Somber Shawl pattern for both its stripes and shape, so it only made sense to see how it would look with the self-striping goodness of Urth Yarns Uneek Fingering yarn! The meditative stitch pattern was great to just chill out with. Listening to her favorite audiobooks, she watched as the colors shifted into other shades effortlessly - it was just too delicious to NOT have in her project bag, so it's definitely a wardrobe staple now!
This project is also available as a kit on our site!
