Sometimes, we go through a dry spell of sorts when it comes to what project we want to start next. At this point, nothing sounds good - sweaters take forever, shawls can get repetitive, and hats are pretty hit or miss, especially when it's getting hotter out. UGH! This is seriously the worst feeling, even our project bags start to get sassy with us!
"Feed me!", "I need my fiber!", "I'm starving!", it whines.
So we snap back, "Oh, put a sock in it!".
Wait a second... that's a brilliant idea! Maybe that's exactly what it needs! Just a little snack of Euro Sock yarn!

New to Jimmy Beans Wool comes the scrumptiously squishy Madelinetosh Euro Sock! This 4-ply fingering weight yarn is made out of 100% superwash merino wool and boasts an impressive 435 yards - enough to safely make one pair of socks! Each hank's fibers are ethically sourced and dyed by hand in Texas!
Available in a delectable array of shades (from neon pinks to cool blues and neutral staples), there are plenty of shades to mix and match! Like all hand-made garments, we recommend washing in cold water (whether you want to machine wash or hand wash is up to you!) and laying flat to dry.

It's no surprise that meditation and knitting go hand in hand - being mindful about your breathing, repetitive stitch patterns, and feelings of accomplishment when you're finished. Vrinda Yarn took this concept and poured a whole bunch of love into it to make their brand something fresh and friendly! You can find an in-depth interview for our April Pop-Up shop on our blog here, where you can learn about the inspiration behind color names, combinations and much more!

Sometimes we forget to take a step back and just focus on ourselves. We constantly have a need to dote on others, but it's important to care for ourselves too!
Vrinda Yarn has seamlessly blended the world of self-care and treating others with kindness in the message they send with their yarn. They found a way to the hearts of other makers with witty color names and yummy fibers, which in turn brings them joy, making it the perfect balance of self-love and outer love!

Have you missed out on our previous pop-up shops or just want a recap? So far, we've strolled the streets of Paris with La Bien Aimee, wandered through the plateaus of Tibet with mYak Tibetan Fibers, and danced across rainbows with Fully Spun! Check out our official pop-up page for more information and project ideas using these incredible strings!

A Fresh Coat of Paint!
It's a no-brainer for why we like tiny things - babies, puppies, kittens? Seriously, who doesn't like them? But, have you ever thought about why you love them? Well, there's a scientific reason for why we love small, "cute" things! There's a theory that small things make us feel a need to either protect or socialize with them. This can range from living things like pets and even inanimate things like... yarn?
Things like the Scheepjes Skies Assortment Pack - Heavy and the SweetGeorgia Prismatic Mini Yarn Set are ADORABLE!
The new Koigu Paint Cans are the perfect mixture of colorful and cute, containing 5 25-gram skeins of Koigu KPPPM yarn arranged in a pre-made color combo! The best part? The yarn comes in a tiny, clear paint can, which doubles as a storage solution for your bits and bobbles once you use the yarn up! Each can comes with a small washer to open it up, which really sets the mood for making a beautiful work of art with your needles as your paintbrush!

A Fan FADE-VORITE Project!
One of our favorite things to do is pick out what shades to use in our next fade. The trial and error of checking undertones and how much speckle we want is exhilarating! So we have to ask - do you like fades? Do you ever have trouble being able to find the perfect blend of colors? Maybe it's not the colors that are the hard part, but finding the courage to jump into it, and we get it - it can be super intimidating! Our color curators are here on the scene to give you the dirty deets on how to begin building your next fade with ease!
We always recommend going with your gut instinct. Pick out a color that speaks to you. Are you a fan of purple? Then begin there and build around it so you have a solid root to expand on - like music or gardening! From there you can decide if you want a multicolored or monochromatic look! This includes whether you want speckles, solids, or variegated colors in your transition shades!
|
|
Next, figure out the feeling you want to give off: Playful, moody, exciting, and comforting are among some of our top picks, but there's a whole rainbow of emotion you can express with colors and how you arrange them on a project!
For this example, we're going to be using Andrea Mowry's Free Your Fade pattern, which only needs 3 skeins of Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light yarn! For a moody blue fade, we recommend the shades To Australia With Love, Patagonia, and Stormborn. For something bright and a little edgy, try out Gosia, Pinata Pop, and Holi Festival together! The possibilities are truly endless!
Please note: If a color you're interested in shows 0 inventory, you can still place an order for it and we will get that dyed up for you! No minimums are necessary!

We want to check in on you guys - how are you doing? Are you holding up okay? It's important in times like these to keep a watchful eye not only on your physical health but on your mental health as well. Staying inside is one thing but what happens when we start to get a little anxious by letting our mind wander? We don't really know what the future holds for us, so how do we stay calm and take it day by day?
First off, we want to let you know that it's absolutely normal to feel this way and you're not alone because we're feelin' that worry too. Listening to daily updates and how we should be interacting with one another is not always the best on our nerves! We want to share with you how the Beans have been using their time at home to hopefully give you ideas on how to stay healthy, calm, and happy!
For the majority of us, routine is key! Waking up at the same time every day, making a nice cup of coffee, and sitting down to work on one of those 1000-piece puzzles gets the mind focused (and finding pieces that fit into each other is basically the best feeling in the world). We've also found that a lot of us Beans have a green thumb! By taking an interest in gardening, it gives us another living thing to look after - just like our wonderful pets, which are giving us the loving company we all need!
|
|
|
Puzzles and plants are great for your brain, but what about your body? Some of the Beans have taken it upon themselves to take more baths for relaxation (with a nice glass of wine, anyone?!) or going for an evening stroll with our pets to get some much-needed fresh air and to break the monotony of binging a new show. Of course, we can't gloss over the fact that we've been finishing projects and starting new ones, whether it be knitting, crocheting, or weaving while we've been on phone calls with our families!
We want to stress the importance of keeping up on your own health and hope you're all doing well! It's a lot less lonely navigating the world knowing that we're in this together.
Wishing you all love, safety, creativity, and good health.
- Team Beans.

Project On Our Needles
Monica's Massallo Shawl
Spring is defini-knit-ly for shawls, and Monica couldn't help but agree! The gorgeous, almost woven texture of the slip-stitch Massallo Shawl caught her eye and she just HAD to get it on her needles! Using the Massallo Shawl pattern by Louis Boria (AKA Brooklyn Boy Knits) and six skeins of Madelinetosh Tosh Vintage yarn, Monica sat down and knit up a storm, having a blast watching the colors come together right in front of her eyes!
Perfect for knitters looking to spread their wings past knitting and purling while still offering an interesting project for seasoned professionals, this shawl is a great way to play with color!
Brooklyn Boy Knits is featuring this pattern in an upcoming virtual KAL (Knit Along) starting on April 25th! Have you picked your yarn up yet? The Madelinetosh Massallo Shawl is available as a kit on our website with 3 beautiful colorways to choose from!
