Worth the work
Having experience doing all phases of fiber preparation and dyeing, I highly praise the glory of Nube!
The intense color application required to create Malabrigo saturated colorways does mean the Nube roving gives a first-feel of being slightly felted. Do not let this discourage you! The superfine high quality merino fiber is incredible to spin once the work of preparing the roving is done. The joy never ended for me- planning how I wanted to use the color, the work of preparing pencil rovings, the joy of the colors changing over my fingers is pleasurable every time I work with Nube.
I have separated Nube by its major colors, and spun each color separately, creating a subtly striping yarn. In this case, I spun fine singles and Navajo-plied it to create my final yarn. I then took the other half of the roving, and separated into long pencil rovings, to maintain the variations as they came on the roving, and did not ply. I have knit the two styles of yarn together, alternating every row and the result was magnificent, catching the admiration of serious knitters, spinners and color artists.
I love Nube and I could spin Nube for a good many years and never tire of its loveliness. The finished items I have are wearing well! I highly recommend it, just expect to commit time to your plan and fiber preparation.
