Opposite from description
I bought this yarn to crochet a baby blanket as it was described as soft and perfect for that type of project. I also liked the gradient dye. I'm afraid it didn't live up to the description.
1. The first 3 skeins were twisted so tightly they behaved more like cord than a soft yarn. I wouldn't describe it as soft in any way, shape or form. But I powered through a simple C2C pattern with a 3.5mm hook hoping that maybe once I blocked it, the yarn would soften up. When I got to the 4th skein white I began to see why someone would describe it as soft. This one was not twisted tightly at all and did actually have more of a pliable soft feel to it, but I still wouldn't call it baby soft.
2. I wet blocked the final product in cold water hoping it would soften up and be usable as a baby blanket. Instead, it soaked up so much water it took more than 5 days to dry completely. The dye bled quite a bit, which wasn't as surprising. But the real problem is that it shrunk significantly! As in more than 3 inches on width and height. And no softening observed. This yarn was described as machine washable.
Overall, this yarn is not baby soft or soft at all and not machine washable, two important factors for a baby blanket. Also, the variation in the twist between the skeins seems to indicate a poor quality production to me.
