Sturdy and Pretty
I have made baby blankets in both the yellow gradient and the purple gradient. The pattern is quite easy - basically stockinette body with either garter stitch or seed stitch border, whichever you like. The first kit I bought in yellow came in skeins, which 2 of the 4 were quite easy on the winding but the other 2 were a bit of a tangled mess - almost to the point of toss them in the trash and set fire to it all. Luckily, a Ravelry group that loves to untangle yarn saved my sanity. The purple set was already wound and 3 of the 4 cakes had no issues but the 4th had a knot hidden about 2/3 of the way thru the ball. Note to self: re-wind caked yarn to discover this problem in advance. The finished blankets though are absolutely gorgeous in terms of richness of color. The yellow one has already been gifted and 19months later it is loved on and dragged around by a very active toddler and yet it washes/dries well and comes out as nice as when it was first new. The mom reports that, if anything, it gets softer and nicer feeling the more it has been used. The purple will be gifted next month - i just pulled it out of the washer/dryer and it is wonderfully soft - and I even ran it with a color catcher due to the deep purple - and didn't not appear to have any color bleed either. I recommend this kit - but would recommend care in the winding of the yarn from skein to cake or if already wound into cakes, you may want to consider re-winding the cakes to check for knots.
