Beanie Bag Free Patterns
We're sure you'll agree this month's knit and crochet patterns, designed by
Heather Boyd and
Ann Wicker, are just good, clean fun - and useful, to boot!
You may not have seen felted soap savers or even heard of them, but they're the perfect way to make that special bar of soap last for the long haul, and keep it from slipping out of your hands while you're using it! Wool is naturally antibacterial, so just let it dry out between uses (squeeze out excess water and sit it on a soap dish), and your soap saver will last longer than your bar of soap!
The best part is, the soap saver will continue to felt with use until the soap is gone, and then you can use it as a scrubby, snip it open and squeeze a new bar inside, or even use it to collect and combine soap scraps from other bars. Ingenious!

New to felting? Old hat? Whatever your experience level, everybody could use a refresher - and like all great projects, this one keeps it simple: no washing machine required! After you've created your soap sacks, you'll gently felt your soap inside using just your hands and some hot water! Here's a quick video tutorial to get you off to the felting races, and some other tutorials that might be helpful:
