Amber and Erica show how to do a Double Crochet Stitch! Amber is right-handed and Erica is left-handed, so both perspectives are represented in this video. We hope you enjoy it!
How to do a Double Crochet
Double Crochet Stitch Instructions:
Start with a foundation chain row four chain stitches longer than you need for the width of your project. See how to create a crochet foundation chain in our How to Crochet video.
Yarn over, insert hook into the fourth chain stitch from your hook, yarn over again and pull through the chain stitch. You will now have 3 loops on your hook.
Yarn over, pull through 2 of the loops on the crochet hook. (2 loops remaining on the hook)
Yarn over again, and pull through the last two loops. (1 loop remaining on the hook)
Repeat in each stitch across the row to end.
Chain 3 (Amber prefers to chain only 2 because she like the look better) and turn.
Beginning of row 2, yarn over and insert hook in the second stitch from the base of your chain 3, yarn over again and pull through the stitch. You will now have 3 loops on your hook.
Yarn over, pull through 2 of the loops on the crochet hook. (2 loops remaining on the hook)
Yarn over again, and pull through the last two loops. (1 loop remaining on the hook)
Repeat in each stitch across the row to end.
Voila! You have a Double Crochet!
*Tip: If you want to space your double crochets out to create a larger hole in your crocheted fabric, do a chain crochet in between each double crochet and skip every other stitch in the row below.
