The Great Basin is located in the middle of the Western United States; a large rocky area of mountains, lakes and desert, much of which lays atop my home state of Nevada. I designed this generous wrap as the namesake of this geological location. Being a desert, it is known to be very cold at night, so I switched to using an aran weight yarn for this project. Knit from the right to left tip, panels of ribbed cables sweep along the bottom half of this fully reversible shawl to echo the Sierra and Rocky Mountains surrounding the basin, while the top half is knit in seed stitch for texture and to mock the rocky nature of the land I call home.
