Bought this for one pattern 11 of 43
Review by: Ridley May 31, 2011
 Rating: 3 out of 5 (3 out of 5)
Product reviewed: Interweave Press - Interweave Knits Magazine - '08 Fall
Ordered this older magazine for the Window Pane coat, but found there are several other patterns I might consider. I now have a subscription for magazine but didn't have this issue. I find that even if there is only one pattern I like all the other info is very helpful.

Love my addi lace! 12 of 43

Product reviewed: Addi - Addi Lace Needles
Everytime I buy a set I get an email to review them. They are still my favorite knitting needles. I have a pair of Lana Grossa that I like to use when the Addi are too slippery but still usually reach for these. I like the narrower points and find they work well with whatever I am knitting!

Product reviewed: Manos Del Uruguay - Maxima Multi
According to the Fairmount Fibers the distributor of Manos yarn Maxima has 218 yards. Are you sure you are talking about the same yarn??

Knits up beautifully 14 of 43
Review by: Ridley Apr 11, 2011
 Rating: 5 out of 5 (5 out of 5)
Product reviewed: Debbie Bliss - Fez
I am sorry that Debbie Bliss has discontinued this yarn. It knits up beautifully and after blocking it just gets softer to the touch! It makes a wonderful soft and warm sweater. Again too bad it is being discontinued. IMHO too many yarn companies discontinue really nice yarns!

My all time favorite 15 of 43
Review by: Ridley Mar 27, 2011
 Rating: 5 out of 5 (5 out of 5)
Product reviewed: Malabrigo - Worsted Merino
I have already written one review but now that my coat is almost finished I decided to once again say this is my all time favorite merino worsted yarn! The cables pop, it is such a soft yarn to knit (I have a thing I have to enjoy the feel of the yarn as I knit) it is easy to wind into a ball,& it frogs beautifully! It is a yarn that I can't find a negative thing about. Everytime I go into my LYS people oh&ah over the feel and look of the piece. I am using the color Mineral Red which doesn't look anything like it appears on the monitor it is not red nor pink, leans more to salmon in my estimation. (the girls could probably describe it better) I hope to try the Malabrigo twist soon and I am lusting over the color #436 (if it looks like my monitor) in the Silky Tweed! No I don't work for Malabrigo just haven't found a yarn of theirs that I don't like.

Feels like butter 16 of 43
Review by: Ridley Mar 22, 2011

 Product reviewed: HiKoo - Simplicity
I have to admit I haven't knitted anything with this yarn yet, I bought a skein to try and it feels wonderful. According to Skacel who distributes this yarn they will soon be coming out with a worsted weight which is what I knit with mostly, so when they do & if JBW carries it I will definitely buy some. I have seen some garments made from it on Ravelry and all the comments on the yarn were good. Sure doesn't feel like it has any acrylic in it. I guess I'll have to go make a swatch and than order some. The price is great!

Really like this yarn 17 of 43
Review by: Ridley Mar 08, 2011
 Rating: 5 out of 5 (5 out of 5)
Product reviewed: Berroco - Ultra Alpaca
I bought a pink skein of this yarn because I have wanted a pale pink cardigan and can't find one I like to buy! The yarn is so soft yet strong. I knitted a swatch, washed and blocked it and it came out fine. The yarn has a slight halo which gives it a soft cuddle me look. knits well, no splits,no knots. I am trying to find a cardigan pattern that I think will look good in pink before I order more. When I get something actually knitted with this yarn I will review again. Meanwhile Ravelry users give it high marks.

 disappointed 18 of 43
Review by: Ridley Feb 24, 2011
 Rating: 3 out of 5 (3 out of 5)
Product reviewed: Madelinetosh - Tosh Vintage
I ordered a skein of this from wool watchers as I have heard so many raves about Madelinetosh yarns. I haven't tried any of the others but this was disappointing. I did a swatch and washed & blocked it and the stitches look slanted to the left! The yarn is not scratchy but then again it isn't soft and cuddly either. I guess for the price this yarn sells for I expected something really different. Have to say though the color was beautiful and maybe that is what one pays for with this yarn.

 Feels great 19 of 43

Product reviewed: Rowan - Wool Cotton
I got one skein of this yarn from Wool Watchers,(my new way of trying out yarns that I haven't had before; I accumulate during the week and have it all sent out on Friday and the orders arrive here on the East Coast on Monday!) received my weekly order today and Wool Cotton was included in the shipment. It beats my expectations! There is a sweater in Fresh Fashion Knits that I want to make that calls for this yarn but it takes 10 skeins which is going to make it more than what I wanted to spend on this sweater, however the yarn is so nice I am going to have to find a pattern that I think is different enough to warrant the cost or something that uses less yarn but I do like this yarn and I must admit that I am no a Rowan fan; as I find most of their yarn is over priced for the quality but this one is a winner.

 Soft and doesn't scratch! 20 of 43

Product reviewed: Berroco - Ultra Alpaca
I just received my weekly wool Watcher order from JB; one skein of several different yarns. (My way of trying out yarns I am curious about and that my LYS doesn't carry. She calls me the Queen of my skein yarns; I think Berroco Ultra Alpaca is a yarn I will bug her to carry. It feels so soft and I have it laying on my shoulder and no itch with my sensitive skin. I have a sweater in mind for this yarn and as soon as I swatch it will probably be ordering more, even at regular price this yarn sounds like a bargain to me. More later.
