Lorna's Laces Solemate Yarn - Black Purl Reviews

Lorna's Laces Solemate Yarn - Black Purl
Black Purl shown $27.00
Solemate is Lorna's latest amazing creation! A sock weight yarn that is made from 55% Superwash Merino, 15% Nylon and 30% Outlast, a fiber technology that continuously interacts with a body's microclimate to moderate temperature from being too hot or too cold. It was used by NASA. Ferrari uses it for their race car seats. Not only do you get this cutting edge technology, but it also comes in your favorite Lorna's hand-dyed color combinations! And don't forget that it is machine washable. Could you ask for anything else in a sock yarn?

The color Go, Sandy, Go was created in honor of a very special JBW family/staff member, Sandy! In the fall of 2014, Sandy underwent chemo to address her recurrent cancer, and Lorna's was generous enough to dye up the gorgeous shade of peachy pink, the color endometrial cancer support, to help us raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Both Jimmy Beans Wool and Lorna's Laces are donating a portion of the proceeds from the sales of this color in any Lorna's Laces yarn to Cast of Chemo!, a fiber-arts based charity that helps to "fund research that will end the need for chemotherapy in breast cancer treatment and, ultimately, cure potentially all cancers." As always.... 5 out of 5 stars (5 out of 5)
Very happy with this yarn as I have mentioned in many posts before! Wish there was a space on the JBW website, where pictures of finished items are posted. It really would help in choosing between the many gorgeous colors if we can view them as an end product. Picture of the garment. Yarn and color.

Pleasant to knit 5 out of 5 stars (5 out of 5)
I knitted the shawlette Bigger on the Inside with the colorway Bigger on the Inside! It turned out beautifully and has a nice feel and drape to the shawl. The blue color is gorgeous and suited the project well. I look forward to knitting socks with this yarn. I did not have any problems with it.

Scrumptious 5 out of 5 stars (5 out of 5)
I fell madly in love with Lorna's Lace Solemate yarn. It is soft, easy to work with and has a slight variegated tone in the color yellow. I am making a summer capelet for our Oregon summer. Jimmy Bean was super fast in their shipping and I look forward to more ordering from Jimmy Beans:

3 out of 5 stars (3 out of 5)
I enjoyed using Solemate for the first time in the recent Downtown MKAL. Great stitch definition, nice drape. I'm giving this three stars because I encountered two issues: 1 there were a couple areas where the yarn was split/frayed and 2 I'm having issues with bleeding. I understand red dyes are difficult to set, but for the price of the yarn I'm disappointed that I'm having to fiddle around with multiple washes and vinegar rinses.
