Inspiration vs. Detail
I recently ordered and received this book. I have been collecting gansey patterns, books, DVD's, for the past two years in anticipation of designing and knitting a sweater. This book was a welcome addition to my collection. Be warned, however, that the 60 different sweaters illustrated in the book do not come with complete knitting pattern instructions instead, there are small charts of the motifs which repeat horizontally and/or vertically around or across the sweater. You will need Beth Brown-Rensel's book, KNITTING GANSEYS, and/or the DVD in order to take what you receive in the Dutch book and design your own pattern. Yarn requirements and needle sizes are included in the Ruhe book, but complete knitting instructions for each of the sweaters pictures in the book are not provided. I got quite a lot of good out of this book and plan to make several of the sweaters in the book however, I would never have been able to do this without educating myself first, however, with the works of other teacher/authors. There are some interesting differences between Dutch and/or English/Scottish gansey sweaters no underarm gussets in the Dutch version, but there are plenty of similarities too. All in all, I am really happy that this book was written and that I purchased it. It is more for advanced knitters, however.

The Best of the Best
Without a doubt, this is the best yarn that I have ever used. The stitch definition is incredible. The yarn looks good in both the smooth and the textured sections. There is absolutely no halo which makes the stitches pop like crazy. There were no knots in the skein. I am very favorable impressed with this product and will be ordering more. The customer service at Jimmie Beans is also very prompt. I live in California, and my package arrived in two days' time. I will be ordering from them again.
