RENO, NV, August 5th, 2007: Melissa Thetford, from Olympia, Washington, has won over $400 in knitting prizes from the July 2007 Nationwide Pattern Contest at Jimmy Beans Wool. Her pattern creates a wonderful bag for around town or at the beach -- great for those hot summer days!
Melissa is an obsessive knitter currently living in Olympia Washington, working as a youth-at-risk counselor and attending school full time with the intent of becoming a teacher. She will be leaving the country in September to do some teaching (and knitting) in South America, learning the techniques of Peruvian tejadoras, but you can keep an eye on her current projects at her weblog, procrastaknitter.blogspot.com.
The Slant Pocket Bag pattern is available free from the Jimmy Beans Wool website. "Our pattern contest continues to grow every month in the number of submissions. It is so inspiring to see all the knitting creativity happening all around us!," says Laura Zander, owner of Jimmy Beans Wool.
The contest is ongoing; submissions will be accepted for this month's contest through August 31st. Each month's prizes include a $50 gift certificate to Jimmy Beans Wool as well as yarn, patterns and accessories valued at more than $400.
