RENO, NV, August 23rd, 2011: Knitting! Crocheting! The crafting community is doing it's part to stimulate the economy, and Jimmy Beans Wool's recent appointment to the Inc.5000 List for the Third Year in a row proves that knitting is a lot more than just a hobby.

Inc. Magazine announced today their 2011 list of the top 5000 fastest-growing private businesses in America based on 2007-2011 growth.. Jimmy Beans Wool, ranked at #1379 and 207% growth, bettered their 2010 rank #1525 and 189% growth). This ranking makes them one of the 100 fastest growing privately-owned Retail companies in the country.

The Inc. 5000 list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy - America's independent-minded entrepreneurs. These 5000 companies are responsible for creating more than 1 million jobs since their founding, making the list perhaps the best example of the impact private, fast-growing companies can have on the economy. Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region, and other criteria, can be found on

This is the 3rd year that Jimmy Beans Wool has been on the Inc.5000 list - and if things continue as they have in 2011, there's a good chance they'll make the list again for a 4th time in 2012. Jimmy Beans Wool is quite possibly the only yarn business to ever be recognized on the Inc.5000, not to mention to make the list multiple times.

"I think I speak for all of us at Jimmy Beans Wool when I say how incredibly lucky we all feel." says Laura Zander, owner. "We are fortunate to enjoy many blessings in our business, not only we are doing well with growth, but we love craft itself, the vendors we work with and most of all, our customers."

And while the majority of the growth has come from the knitting shop's internet business, the brick-and-mortar shop has also seen its share of increased traffic. "Because we strive to create the local shop experience for our online customers, we end up meeting many of our online customers in person." says Zander. "Customers from all over the country make Reno a destination in their travel plans because they want to visit our shop. It's an incredible feeling, to know that we've succeeded in making our customers feel like they are a part of our little knitting business. We couldn't be happier."

Like so many other businesses that have made the move from California to Nevada, the Reno-based knitting and crochet shop originally opened its doors in Truckee, CA in 2002 but relocated to Reno in 2004. It is both a brick-and-mortar and online store offering everything from yarn to knitting needles, crochet hooks, and accessories and consistently employees 25 knitting Nevadans. The store has been profiled as a Dell Computer Trailblazer, was the subject of a small business profile on, has been featured on NPR, and in Fortune Small Business. They were also awarded the 2009 and 2010 Circle of Excellence from Bizrate for their excellent customer service reputation.

They are now officially an Inc. 5000 company... for the 3rd time.
