RENO, NV, February 1st, 2011: Jimmy Beans Wool announces the opening of the second annual Beans for Brains scholarship application process. This knitting and crochet scholarship is composed of six awards, worth $3,000 each, and will be distributed to deserving crafters worldwide. The merit based award is open to all undergraduate, graduate, and professional students who will be attending an accredited four-year institution for the 2011-2012 school year. Applicants may be pursuing a degree in any field; however, they must know how to knit or crochet to apply.
This is the second year that Jimmy Beans Wool has provided support to higher education by awarding scholarships to deserving students. The goal is to help provide opportunities for higher education to people in the fiber community. "It is an investment in our industry and in our future," says Jimmy Beans Wool owner Laura Zander. $3,000 will be distributed to six commendable students this year through the generous donations and efforts of Jimmy Beans Wool, The Yarn Group, Interweave and many other fiber industry sponsors!
Interested students can apply by downloading the application on Jimmy Beans Wool website. Students can review the scholarship requirements and download the Scholarship Application Form online at https://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/scholarship.
Completed applications should be returned to Jimmy Beans Wool by April 1st, 2011 and may be submitted via email or through the USPS. Electronic applications should be submitted via email to [email protected].
