Jen Small is a designer who loves the challenge of creating stories in knitwear. She began knitting 3 years ago, and immediately began creating her own designs as she made hats for her friends' babies. She is the author of the Pink Bunny Hat in Stitch n Bitch Nation, and is excited to be creating clothes for her own son now. The Pondemonium child's sweater pattern is available free from the Jimmy Beans Wool website. "We hope the pattern contest will inspire both beginning and advanced designers, and their designs will in turn encourage other knitters," says Laura Zander, owner of Jimmy Beans Wool.
The contest is ongoing; submissions will be accepted for this month's contest through June 30th. Each month's prizes include a $50 gift certificate to Jimmy Beans Wool as well as yarn, patterns and accessories valued at more than $400.
