It's official - the Pantone colors of the year were destined to be our favorite combination! Seeing as how everyone picked up some sort of craft last year, whether it be macrame, knitting, or crocheting, it's been well-known in the community that we have a penchant for all things grellow - we just can't help it! There's something heartwarming about the happiness of yellow and the cool, calmness of the gray. After the year we all had in 2020, we've just strengthened our love for the color combination. It's like a ray of sunshine is peeking out from behind the clouds, signifying that the rain will stop and we'll be enjoying the little things again, which is pretty nice to think about. A sort of "this too, shall pass" kinda thing.
To celebrate the little wins that we experienced last year, our Bean, Adrienne, designed a sweet little cowl using Fyberspates Cumulus, a fluffy, fuzzy yarn that keeps you warm while not being heavy on your body. Aptly called the Silver Lining Cowl, we thought this was the perfect time to debut it, as we've finally left 2020 behind and, well, it's gray - it's perfect for the Pantone Color of the Year!
This project is perfect for the adventurous beginner and beyond, playing with a simple colorwork motif using two different shades of gray. When we asked our Bean, Alex (who graciously modeled it for us), we had a hard time getting it back! She said it was so comfortable it felt like receiving a cozy hug from a long-time best friend. So, of course, we let her wear it for the rest of the day, hehe!

Have you ever made such a beautiful pair of socks that you genuinely feel like you're walking on sunshine? Sometimes all you need to do is treat your feet and pay some attention to your own body with its needs and wants.
We adore making socks and gotta say - self-striping socks for the win! New from Urth Yarns is an homage to the Pantone colors of the year! Each Pan21 Kit comes complete with 2 identical, pre-wound cakes of Uneek Sock which works up beautifully, making your next set of striped socks effortless! This blend of merino wool and nylon adds comfort and a touch of stretchiness to keep your feet cozy and able to breathe! One of our favorite things about Urth Yarns is that for every purchase of their kits or skeins of yarn, they plant a tree in sub-Saharan Africa as part of their partnership with Trees for the Future! Now THAT's something to knock our socks off (er... on?).
Please note: Completed socks are not included in this kit and will need some expert (hint, hint = that's you!) hands to knit up these sunshiney socks!

The Future is Tosh Merino BRIGHT!
Have you ever felt a yarn so soft that you thought you were flying in some clouds? A blissful afternoon of floating amongst the fluffy, woolly clouds without a care in the world? That's kind of how we feel when it comes to Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light! Making with this yarn is effortless, and we love it with our entire hearts!
Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light is an excellent choice for any maker out there who wants a little bit of luxury and slight haze around their project! Tosh Merino Light is a 100% Superwash Merino wool that packs a punch with a generous 420 yards per skein, making the most for your project and wallet! One skein is more than enough to complete a pair of socks and two skeins can make a full-sized lace project - now THAT'S pretty darn sweet!
Please note: All of Madelinetosh's skeins are dyed by hand, making each hank a beautiful work of art in itself. When you order more than one skein of the same color, your hanks are visually matched to result in the best match and lessen your chances of striping. We still recommend alternating skeins when it comes to making larger projects, though!

Shi-BOOYEAH
Did you know a koan is a type of statement, story, or riddle? It's used in zen practice to demonstrate the differences between logic and enlightenment! We've gotta say, we may have found the ultimate zen yarn to help us on our journey to self-discovery (and maybe a project or three on the way there, hehe!)
Shibui Knits Koan is a sumptuous blend of mulberry silk and linen, making it the perfect yarn for spring and summer garments. We've started shifting gears into linen and cotton blends, and this one came back on our radars at the perfect time, and, well, we're obsessed! Each skein of Koan has a brilliant silky shimmer with all the strength of linen wrapped up into 248 yards to play with and squish! Great for all kinds of accessories. Koan is also available in the sophisticated Shibui Knits color palette that we love!

Adrienne's Accessories
Sometimes we get a shipment of new products, and we think, "wow, cocoknits, ya did it again!" What did they do again, you may ask? Well, they blew us away with how adorable their newest little tape measures are! They're like little beans that rest in your hand with ease and have this strange adorable-ness to them that makes us want to collect them all!
The cocoknits Tape Measure is the cutest, tiniest treasure to keep in your project bags. Part of the vibrant, soothing color palette of all cocoknits accessories, these bad boys are packaged in a reusable linen bag with a drawstring closure, making storage a snap! Each Tape Measure is crafted out of a smooth, durable material that rests perfectly in the space between your thumb and index finger - talk about hand-y (too much?)!
These accessories are made out of a non-water soluble PLA, a 100% biodegradable plant fiber, making it 100% plastic-free, which is good for your project bag and great for the planet! The metal tape measure inside includes both cm/mm and inches (and it's 72" / 2 m long), making it a universal tool everyone can enjoy!

It's official, you guys made our reopening something special and one to remember! Your smiling eyes (we believe someone has coined the term "smizing" for this exact moment) and joyous laughter reinvigorated us and made us remember how much we love this community. Despite everything that happened last year, everyone was still so excited to come in and see us (and, of course, get to take in the eye-candy that is ALL. THE. YARN.) We're still taking appointments to come see us and feel the yarn in person, but we thought we would take this opportunity to have you meet our wonderful retail team!

Alicia loves Hedgehog Fibers! She received some yarn and a challenging pattern and said she can't wait to complete it and wear it proudly to work! She also loves the Jimmy Beans Birthday Box because it premiered in her birthday month (we also think she may be a little biased after we had a photoshoot with her and the box, hehe!) but a close contender for her favorite kit would be anything Blue Sky Fibers puts out. We also found out that her favorite part about working in retail is sharing in the excitement of yarn and upcoming projects with all of you!
Arlene shared in Alicia's love of the Birthday Box, citing that she just can't resist tiny boxes and surprises! She falls in love every time she sees a new yarn in rich purples and blues, as they make her super happy. But nothing makes her as happy as interacting and getting to know you all when you stop by for a visit! She loves being able to connect and talk about all things yarn!
Winni loves being able to help people find that ONE perfect yarn for their projects. Showing off new arrivals and helping people leave their comfort zone is a specialty of hers! She agrees with Alicia, loving all things Blue Sky Fibers, turning to their yarn time and time again for her own projects. She doesn't always splurge on kits, but she did tell us that she adored our Valentine's Bouquets this year from the color combinations of Madelinetosh to the modern, sleek vessel it came in!

Project On Our Needles!
Alex's Hilma Vest
Do you ever see a pattern and instantly fall in love with it? That's how our Bean, Alex, felt with the Hilma Vest. Simple with a classic feel to it, Alex knew she had to add it to her closet one way or another! Working it seamlessly from the top down, Alex worked the front first before moving to the back. The easy instructions left Alex feeling good about each stitch, especially the cable pattern charts!
Alex used Kate Davies Ard-Thir yarn, which knit up beautifully and lent itself to be the softest garment she's made in quite some time and we're just as obsessed with it as she was! Vests are totally making a comeback and we're so excited to see where this trend takes us!
