There's an old saying that says knitters are much like squirrels. We're always adding new WIPS to our needles, introducing new skeins to our stash, and collecting accessories like they're going out of style. We can see how striking the similarities are, which is why we're celebrating National Squirrel Day with a new WIP (we just couldn't help ourselves!)

We have hinted at these mitts over on our Instagram, and since then, you guys have sent in questions asking what the projects on our Bean's hands were, and we're excited to finally unveil the Squirrely Mitts! Using Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light, these mitts are just what the doctor ordered for those who need a little more warmth and coziness in their lives! With the option to knit them stockinette or reverse stockinette, you can customize them to your preferences (and all that changes is how you deal with the ends!)

Designed by our resident squirrel-lover, Amy Gunderson, you can bet that these mitts are crafted with care with the bonus of being able to choose between two gorgeous colorways! Each kit comes with all of the Madelinetosh yarn you need (pre-wound, no less!), unique, exclusive woodland stitch markers, and an acorn gift-tag (if you're feeling like sharing, of course!)

Please note: This kit does not come with the needles required. We highly recommend using US size 1 and size 3 DPNs to complete this project. Good luck and happy squirreling!

Did you know that today is National Hat Day!? For us, that sounds like a maker's paradise! Hats are some of our favorite things to craft up because they're bite-sized projects that we can whip up in a day if we put our minds to it. Hats are great for gifting and for getting used to new stitch techniques without fear of committing to a huge blanket!

You may remember the 2020 Blanket Club had the option to use the yarn for your choice of knitting or crocheting a unique head cozy (er, hat) designed by one of the Beans. This year, we're making those hats available to everyone who didn't get a chance to participate in the club! This collection, Beanies by Beans, features 12 knit and 12 crochet designs (totaling 24 hats to craft up), all of which were inspired by the sea and other bodies of water.

(Please note, these hat patterns were originally designed to use Hedgehog Fibres Merino Aran.

That yarn base was exclusive to our Blanket Club, and we have limited stock of it currently. Some good alternatives include Malabrigo Rios, Madelinetosh Tosh Vintage, or Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted!

Happy Happy Birthday (Box)!

We're officially halfway through the first month of the year - how crazy is that!? The hustle and bustle of the holidays is but a memory, and now we're focusing on ourselves and how special we deserve to feel on our birthdays. We asked around the warehouse to see how The Beans feel about their birthdays, and we were shocked by the results! A handful of them don't celebrate or even dislike their birthday - that just won't do! We believe everyone deserves to feel like royalty on their birthday and be able to celebrate in ways that make them feel good.

We channeled that want to make birthdays special into crafting up the new Jimmy Beans Wool Birthday Box. This funky project is completed over 31 days, which has both knitters and crocheters absolutely tickled with delight. Using Madelinetosh Euro Sock (over 1200 yards in total), complete a scarf that utilizes different stitch techniques and colors to make something that was meant just for you! Each colorway comes with the required tools necessary to finish it, meaning no digging around in your personal stash to find that ONE needle or hook for your project!

A few weeks ago we talked about how excited we were about the Blue Sky Fibers Pemberton Pullover KAL, and it's our pleasure to announce that it's officially begun! The first KAL of the year, and it's a sweater? Sign. Us. Up!

Working in the round, Adrienne gauged a needle size down as she worked furiously on the ribbing of her newest favorite project! She's so ready to start on the motifs found in the yoke she can hardly contain her excitement (though, she also just may be tickled that her nails match her pullover - so chic)!
