It is the month of Mother's Day, and the Limited Edition Lorna's Laces color for May is named in honor of the mother we all share, Mother Earth. Although Earth Day was last month, we believe Mother Earth should be celebrated every day! An eye-indulgent combination of blues, greens and the hues in-between, Mother Earth's spectrum includes dusty tones of slate grey, olive green, periwinkle blue and a refreshing burst of bright jewel blue-green that really makes the compilation of luscious colors pop! If you mom doesn't happen to be a fan of the traditional pinks and pastels often associated with Mother's Day, this color makes a wonderful gift whether knit into a stylish pair of socks or as an addition to her stash. Mother Earth is perfect for the earth tone lovers who like to stray to brighter hues every now and again :)

Lorna's Laces shipped us a new Color Commentary colorway this week....Ysolda Red!
Named for and masterminded by Ysolda Teague of "Whimsical Little Knits" fame, this colorway is a beautiful melange of reds with very subtle color shifts.
Now many of you are probably familiar with Ysolda's books and patterns, which you can buy directly from her in England (she offers a .pdf version of the books):
Ysolda's Website. For those that aren't familiar,
I can tell you that we have soooo many people coming into the shop raving about the adorable designs from Ysolda. So when we heard that she was
planning to collaborate on a color with Beth, we were more than tickled!
We hope that you enjoy taking a peek at this beautiful red... and encourage you to read all about Ysolda's adventures at Lorna's Laces on her blog.

Ann Budd is an all-time favorite fiber author. Her new book, Knitting Green, does not disappoint! The projects look enticing with clear instructions and schematics. There is a lot of eco-centered information provided that covers many issues including, which dyes are the best for our environment and how to reuse our yarns in the most productive ways. Many notable designers participate in this book and it has certainly been a hit with all of us here!

Noro Shirakaba Yarn $10.00
|
Noro Shirakaba is a new yarn for Spring 2010. Although this yarn looks like a solid at first glance, it is gently variegated. The colorways are soft and muted and the variegation just moves from light to dark.
Shirakaba is a light worsted weight yarn that knits up at 5 stitches to the inch and it is a beautiful blend of silk, cotton and wool. The silk really adds a nice sheen to the yarn and the texture created is something we are sure you will enjoy!

Madelinetosh Tosh Sock and Tosh DK is finally here!
For the last 2 weeks, everytime a shipment arrives, we've been meeting the UPS guy at the door with a borderline
hysterical giggle of eager anticipation, "Is it here? The Madelinetosh?!"
Well, it is now (ok, not really... the sock is due to arrive in 2 days, but the dk has already found a temporary home on our shelves)!
And boy, was it worth the wait! The 100% superwash merino (machine washable!) yarns come in "squishy soft" hanks
and are available in a luscious array of must-have glazed colors.
Whether you prefer deep purples, subtle neutrals, or springy pastels, there is a Tosh Sock or DK color for any mood or taste.
And with 395 yards per hank for the Sock (and 225 for the DK) there is plenty for a pair of socks or a summer wrap!
