Support Breast Cancer Awareness with a Hat Kit!
Support Breast Cancer Awareness with a Pom Pom Hat Kit!
We all know someone who has been affected by breast cancer, and our hearts go out to those amazing individuals who have fought this tough battle or are still fighting today. Mindy, a beloved Jimmy Beans employee and resident "mother hen," recently fought and won her own battle against breast cancer. Inspired by her journey, we've teamed up with Lorna's Laces to create Pom Pom Hat Kits using the limited edition color for October - Ta-Tas - to help raise money for two organizations hand-picked by Mindy herself - BreastCancer.org and Moms on the Run! Speckle-dyed with pretty pinks and a touch of gray, Ta-Tas is perfect for showcasing your support all month long! Click the video below to see Mindy's story.

Each kit includes one skein of Lorna's Laces Cloudgate in the color Ta-Tas, a cabled hat pattern called Mindy's Hat from Jenny Nelson, and two detachable fur pom-poms that you can snap to the hat. For every hat kit sold, we'll donate $5 to the two organizations noted above. Of the donations, 50% will go to the national organization BreastCancer.org, and 50% will go to Moms on the Run, a Reno-based non-profit organization.

The #iKnitForHarvey Campaign, another cause that's near and dear to our hearts, is still underway! So far, we've raised $3,000 for the KIPP Houston Family Emergency Fund out of our $8,000 goal.
It's not too late to join the cause and help us reach our $8,000 goal!
For every Royal Petite Knit Kit sold, JBW will donate $10 to the KIPP Houston Family Emergency Fund to help the families affected by the devastation. And Blue Sky Fibers, creator of the Royal Petite Knit Kit, has pledged to match our $10 donation for the next 300 kits sold! (That's $20 for each kit sold for the next 300!) And if you send back your hand-knitted toys by October 31st, Jimmy (a.k.a. Laura) will fly to Houston and personally deliver them to KIPP!

We recently received our first toy back (wow, that was fast!) and couldn't be more pleased! To those who have joined our #iKnitForHarvey campaign to raise money for the children and families affected by Hurricane Harvey - thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! Thank you to every blogger, podcaster, writer, and individual member of our crafting community who helped spread the word. We even got help from MarthaStewart.com - check out the article here!

Melanie Berg's True Colors Knit-Along
Don't forget! Knitting extraordinaire Melanie Berg will soon be hosting a drool-worthy knit-along designed to let your true colors shine! Kicking off on October 5th, the True Colors KAL will use one skein of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock and ten Staccatos to create a large, asymmetrical shawl that can be as bold, unique or as simple as you'd like!
The response to this knit-along has been huge, so we've created extra kit colors to choose from. Pick out your favorite, then head to Melanie's Ravelry page to purchase the pattern and join in on the fun!
