We fell through the rabbit hole and decided to devote our May Micro-Brewed Series theme to just one book (and what a deserving one it is, if a little mad!): Lewis Carroll's classic, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland! Our dyers bolted like the tardy White Rabbit to their dyepots to whip up this month's trio of colors, and just in time, too: the new Alice-inspired movie, "Through the Looking Glass" comes out May 27th! Grab one of these bewitching skeins and knit while you watch! |

| Jill Draper was a natural choice to create one of this month's stunning colors: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is her favorite childhood book! For Painting the Roses, she was inspired by the scene in which Alice tries to help the confused playing cards to paint the white roses red before the Queen of Hearts notices, and the skeins do look like paint-splashed flowers: Splatters of rosy pink, taupe, sky blue, and leafy green add fun color to the creamy white Hudson base - you can almost imagine a troupe of wayward gardeners with colorful cans of paint, bespattering flowers in a dreamlike rose garden! |
The 240 yards of worsted-weight, washable merino wool were made sheep-to-skein in the USA, and they'd be wonderful in a pair of lovely Smocked Mitts or the matching Smocked Slouch by Knitterella, or use 2 skeins for an effortless To Eyre shawl from Sunday Knits! For more of Jill's heavenly, hand-dyed yarns, visit her Etsy shop!! |

The color inspiration in Alice is so seemingly endless, creating something gorgeous is no tall order - and Jaime of Beautiful Mess Yarn Works from Pennsylvania proves it! Drink Me is a lustrous mix of sea-glass greens, lovely aqua, and robin's egg blue that perfectly captures the color of the glass vial of potion that causes Alice to shrink to miniature size!
It's a fantastic match for the popular Glossy Sock base, a mix of merino wool and shimmering silk that adds glistening movement to the pretty, tonal colorway. It would really shine in a simple shawl like Purless by Romi Hill, or a cozy, textured neckwarmer like the Cream and Sugar Cowl by Never Not Knitting! For more beautiful (and not at all messy!) hand-dyed skeins, visit the Beautiful Mess Yarn Works Etsy shop! |

| With hundreds of popular patterns on Ravelry and her own dye studio, Erica Jackofsky is blessed with either magic or madness - she's absolutely prodigious with her clever designs and yarn colorways! We were thrilled to have her join us for this month's Alice-extravaganza, and she came up with a cunning colorway that will have you grinning: We're All Mad Here is a deep and mysterious blend of purple, pink, and black with slashes of bright greenish-yellow, just like the mischievous eyes of the Cheshire Cat from the cartoon movie! On the bouncy Polka Sock base, it's 400 yards of fingering-weight wonderment! To double the delight, she's also dyed a sister color for Loops Knitting this month: Cheshire Chat Noir, in shades of gray, black, and aqua, to match the devilish feline in the Tim Burton film! |
And that's not all: both colors inspired Erica to write up designs to go with them, and each skein with have a download code for the accompanying pattern from her Ravelry shop: We're All Mad Here and Cheshire! For more fantastic colorways (mad and otherwise), visit the Fiddle Knits website! |

Alice isn't the only one who needs an occasional potion: that tired, thirsty skin could use a misting of Black Rock Mud
