Sand, sun, and salt water are the images conjured with this month's Lorna's Laces color. Like the bright colors of a classic beach ball, Beach Blanket Bingo will either get you excited for the fun (and warm) months ahead... Or give you pause to reminisce about summers past. We saw this color and immediately thought of those sunny, sand-filled beach days, and suddenly we could just smell the surf and sunscreen! (Mind you we chose this color back in March when it was still chilly and windy out. Of course we were dreaming of summer!)
Whether or not you spend your summer near a body of water, this color is sure to bring some summertime fun to your world. Use Shepherd Sock to knit a colorful pair of socks, like Knitting Pure and Simple's Beginner Lightweight Socks, or Shepherd Worsted to crochet a cheery hat to wear when those dreary winter months come to pass. Any which way you enjoy a little "Beach Blanket Bingo", you'll be dreaming of the beach all year long!
"Beach Blanket Bingo" is available in all of your favorite Lorna's Laces yarn weights AND a gorgeous bouquet:

| We love all things Madelinetosh, and are excited to announce two new ways to get a taste of the ever-popular Tosh Merino Light: TML Samples and Unicorn Tails! The TML Samples are wound by us especially for you! Each ball has 20 yards of the 100% superwash merino wool single-ply you know and love, and they are available in just about every color Tosh offers. They're great for giving TML a try, or for picking coordinating colors without having to invest in full skeins. The TML samples are also just what the designer ordered for the Modicum Mitts by Rachel Roden - the pattern comes free with the TML Tea Cakes! |
You can make another pair of the mitts in your own custom color palette using 12 of these samples. Or, use them to add some diversity to the colors in your Beekeeper's Quilt! Another option for getting your hands on some Tosh Merino Light when you don't quite need a full skein is trying the new Unicorn Tails from Madelinetosh. These magical mini-hanks contain 52 yards fingering weight TML in 30 of Madelinetosh's most popular hand-dyed colorways. Like the TML Samples, Unicorn Tails are perfect for projects requiring a lot of colors but not a lot of yardage. Also great for swatching and hexipuffs, they have the ideal amount of yardage for many fair-isle projects as well as granny squares. Check out Interweave Press's Fair Isle Style for some inspiration! | |

Colinette Arizona Dream Kit - Limited Edition - USA Special $197.00 | Just in time for 4th of July, this limited edition kit features the luscious hand-dyed yarns you're used to seeing in the Arizona Dream Kit, all in Americana-themed colors! The kit comes with instructions for five different throw patterns, four of which can be modified to make wraps. Each Arizona Dream kit has enough yarn to make one throw blanket or two wraps, so you're set for whichever version you choose! Celebrate your US patriotism all year long with one of these gorgeous blankets or wraps at your fingertips! | Julie Turjoman - Knits that Breathe $24.95 | Stay cool this summer with Knits that Breathe ! While warmer weather often means the end of wearing hand knit garments, that doesn't have to be the case if you choose to make one of the 12 light-as-air projects from Julie Turjoman's latest book. Her amazing knowledge of fine fibers combined with figure-flattering designs creates a collection of layering pieces that you'll be sad to pack away when the seasons change. Victoria can't wait to grab some Berroco Linsey and cast on for the Haven top with its dramatic zig zag lace! | Isager Tweed - 2710 Bottle Green $12.95 | This new tweed from Isager is a single-ply, fingering weight blend of wool and mohair that makes a wonderful option for summer-friendly projects. The intermingling of these fibers creates a yarn with unique, yet beautiful structure. While the tweedy flecks of wool impart rustic texture, the mohair adds a subtle, barely-there halo. Try out Isager Tweed in the Lumen shawl or Breckon cardigan from Brooklyn Tweed for a lightweight accessory that is just perfect for when the office air conditioner is just a little too cold!
| Tanis Gray - Capitol Knits $22.95 | Take a tour of the US Capitol with Capitol Knits by Tanis Gray! Featuring 12 designs inspired by Washington DC, this book offers versatile designs from sweater patterns to accessories in a wide variety of yarn weights and skill levels so there's something for everyone. Plus, there's a little trivia thrown in for good measure! Pick up a copy of the book and try out the Summerhouse Hat and Wristers in Koigu's popular American Merino. While you're at it, you can find out where the name "Summerhouse" comes from! | Crocheted Summer Sling Kit $60.00 | This patriotic bag is the perfect crocheted accessory for toting around a water bottle, cans of soda, and other essentials this holiday weekend and all summer long! The kit comes with the three skeins of Cascade 220 yarn and a size US I crochet hook you'll need to make this felted bag. Everything is packed in an XL Namaste Oh Snap pouch to keep you organized while making the tote and beyond. The mesh pouch is particularly handy for taking to the beach - the sand shakes out while your stuff stays in! |

Even though summer is just getting started, all of the new fall yarns are starting to ship to shops - which means it's like Christmas in July around here! Plymouth's new yarns are some of the most recent arrivals, and we can't wait to share them with you. First up is Gina Chunky, a heavier version of the popular Gina yarn. Use it for warm cozy accessories like the Slipped Stitch Button Hat or the Lattice Cable Cowl. Next up is the Cashmere Passion, a luxurious worsted weight blend of merino wool and cashmere for a super soft yarn that will look amazing knit as just about anything. We love the Cable Hat and Keyhole Scarf and the Bell Lace Stole and Scarf knit in this scrumptious yarn. |

Last week, we spent an entire day in Truckee, CA (where our original shop was located) and the surrounding area doing a photo shoot with photographer Brad Swonetz - who also shot our Stitch Mountain book - for the gorgeous Zara yarn from Filatura di Crosa! We chose 12 garments to "re-imagine" in our laid-back-but-still-chic California Style and can't wait to share the results with you! You might also recognize our model, Emma, from Stitch Mountain. That's Mindy's (our HR gal) daughter who is heading off to Ohio for college in the fall... We don't know what we are going to do without her! Enjoy this little behind-the-scenes peek as a taste of more to come from the Filatura di Crosa Zara family of yarns!
