| Malabrigo, Urth, Vogue Knitting and MORE! Causes Close to Our Heart For Your Cart! | | |
It's no surprise that the Thanksgiving holiday has left us feeling, well, thankful! We've found ourselves reminiscing on all the things that make making great - that first squish of a new skein, the clink of our needles as they brush up against each other, the elation that comes with a completed project... we could go on and on!
Within our community are a number of vendors we also can't help but feel thankful for - who deserve recognition for the amazing ways in which they give back to all of us (and beyond!)! Whether through donations or employment, we admire their mission and we make it a point to support them by stocking their products on our website and in our retail shop!

Did ya know?! Urth Yarns plants a tree for every skein purchased?! The ripple effect of these newly planted forests enable families and farmers to create sustainable sources of food, livestock fodder, fuel, and forest products to consume and sell at nearby markets - does it get any better than that!?
It also means that for those of you who join our 2022 Jimmy's Blanket Club, you'll be planting TWELVE TREES without ever lifting a finger (expect to create your blanket!) and helping with this amazing effort.

As a woman owned and predominantly operated organization, Knitter's Pride's mission is extra special to our hearts. It's their policy to never refuse a job to women who are looking for one, especially because for most, this is their first place of employment.
They've recently partnered with us to create Knocker Blockers too, an exclusive set of blockers that donate $1 for each set sold to the Knitted Knockers organization.

Malabrigo is a family owned business operating in both Uruguay and Peru. They mostly employ women and try their best to give job opportunities to people who have fewer opportunities than others.
They've also been working to build themselves into a greener business, using as few chemicals as possible and reducing the quantity of water used to dye their yarn. Who knew that making a hat or joining the 2022 Jimmy's Shawl Club could do so much good!?
|
And last, but never ever least, is our sister company, Madelinetosh! Since joining the Jimmy Beans Wool team of brands in 2019, MadTosh has made it their goal to work with artists of color, women, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Their MT Community Love Fund initiative gives back with financial grants, scholarships, mentorship, yarn and more to business owners, designers and students in the maker community. To support Madelinetosh and all their making goods, grab a Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light Bare Bundle (30% off!!), a skein (or 5!) of GG Loves Speckles, or a Jimmy Beans Wool Birthday Box!

Come On, Vogue!
We gotta be honest with you all, it has been a crazy week! One filled with emotion and lots of heavy but incredibly necessary conversations, but that hasn't clouded how proud we are to see Michelle Obama on the cover of Vogue Knitting!
|
|
She sat down with 14-year-old reporter Shayna Rose to chat about how she taught herself to knit during the lockdown. Together they share beginner tips, their favorite yarns, projects they've completed, and more!
We couldn't help but find the interview incredibly wholesome and sweet, we're excited for you to read it for yourselves!
|
As you flip through the pages, you'll also find nature inspired knits throughout; twisted roots, fossils, and beetles (yes! you read that right!) are just a few of the influences!
Please note: This issue is currently on pre-order and will ship out to you as soon as it's in the building!
