Laura Zander, owner of Reno's Jimmy Beans Wool in Smithridge Plaza, will be in Los Angeles this weekend with gift bags for celebrities attending Sunday's Emmy Awards. Guests will be able to pick up their bags at a "celebrity swag suite."
Zander has organized a knitting circle for the event. Actors will be invited to knit one row of a pink scarf that will be auctioned off on eBay, with the proceeds donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Jimmy Beans Wool's Celebrity Swag Bags will each feature a knitting project made from organic yarn, as well as a tote bag, an embroidered silk taffeta bag, knitting needles, a knitting pattern and small knitting accessories.
"We already have customers who order from our Web site from all over the world," Zander said. "But having celebrities photographed with our gift bag featured in national consumer media will be advertising we can't pay for."
Zander hopes to hit the celebrity jackpot, and has invited several TV stars who are known to be knitting enthusiasts to the swag suite.
The Swag Bags will also be available for purchase at www.JimmyBeansWool.com for about $200 each.
The Emmy Awards will air at 8 p.m. Sunday on Fox.
