Our very own Jeanne stars in this knitting instructional article about how to cast-off. We hope you enjoy it!
1. Insert needle in first stitch and knit it.
2. Insert needle in second stitch and knit it.
3. Now you have two stitches on your right hand needle. Take the tip of the left hand needle and lift the first stitch that you knit, bring it up and over the second stitch and off the right hand needle. Now you will only have one stitch on the right hand needle.
4. Knit one more stitch on your left hand needle - now you have two stitches again on your right hand needle. Take the tip of the left hand needle and lift the first stitch (of the two on your right hand needle) up and over the second stitch and off the needle.
5. Keep repeating.
Once you have the last stitch on your right hand needle, cut your yarn 6 inches out or so and pull it through the last stitch so that the cast off doesn't unravel.
