Kristen has wanted to knit this tunic ever since it came out in the Fall 2009 issue of Interweave Knits (now the pattern can be purchased as an individual download from
Interweave's Online Store.) Designed by Cecily Glowick MacDonald, the
Big Montana Tunic was originally knit in Tahki Montana yarn but Kristen had some discontinued Lana Grossa yarn in her stash that fit the gauge and had a little sparkle to it (bonus!) so she used that instead. She was thrilled when the tunic grew in length with the first blocking and now it falls about 4" below her hips. She had to alter the design a bit for her height, so she added an extra 4" to the length of the body, and an extra 4" (2" on the front & 2" on the back) to the armholes. She also opted for a 2x2 ribbing for the entire cowl neck collar and after the final blocking anticipates that it will have plenty of drape as the neck on the original tunic had. We can't wait to see the finished result!
