When Kristen's favorite chicken died recently, Monika set out to cheer her up! She made Kristen this little stuffed chicken (who was immediately dubbed Gertrude or 'Gertie' for short) out of some fur/eyelash yarn (similar to Trendsetter's Eyelash or La Furla) from her stash held together with a solid yarn to make the stitches more dense. She used scraps for the feet, combs and waddles, tail, and wings.
The pattern is a free one from Ravelry called:
Spring Chicken and is a free PDF. Monika went up a few needle sizes to accommodate the fluffier yarn and it resulted in a larger chicken. Gertie's body measures about 7' tall. We love how realistically fluffy she is as she perches just-so on Kristen's desk. What a sweet gift!
