Zealana Kauri Worsted Yarn Reviews

Kauri Worsted, part of the Zealana Performance Series, is a truly unique blend of New Zealand merino, possum and silk which gives the yarn extra stability as well as an extra soft texture. Hard-wearing and machine-washable, Kauri is a great yarn for projects you hope to use every day. We like it for sweaters, blankets, cowls, hats and mittens, just to name a few! Fun facts about possum:
1) It is lightweight and warm. Because individual possum fibers are hollow, they don't weigh much at all, but are able to retain an exceptional amount of heat.
2) Yarn with possum is soft, not prickly. The unbelievable softness of possum is a combination of the microscopic scales of the fibers themselves and the finishing processed used when creating possum yarns.
3) Possum is pilling-resistant. That's right! Unlike many other natural fibers, possum does not have a tendency to pill, which makes it great for those heirloom projects you love to make and enjoy for years on end.
4) It absorbs moisture. Possum absorbs a reasonable amount of moisture without feeling damp, which allows the fibers to buffer the body's microclimate when outside or room temperatures change.

Overall Kauri Worsted Rating: 5 out of 5 stars (5.0 based on 3 reviews)

Zealana Kauri Worsted - Blue Awa 5 out of 5 stars (5 out of 5)
Addendum: Blocked very well with Soak as per Zealana website recommends. Hat had even more fluff & bounce & halo after blocking. My wool phobic husband loves it. No fading or color change, but the color had more penetration & texture making it even better appearance after blocking. Definitely will use this again.

Zealana Kauri worsted 15 Blue Awa 5 out of 5 stars (5 out of 5)
Substantial weight like a heavy worsted but soft with good twist, hand, & stitch definition & a mild halo. I used US 7 for a hat. Excellent insulation for our 10*F winter! I'll likely use it again. Was very pleased with finished product. I read about the New Zealand possum issues so this is an Eco friendly yarn. I'd like to see more colors at JBW in this yarn.

lovely, soft 5 out of 5 stars (5 out of 5)
This yarn has great feel: soft, bouncy. I made fingerless gloves that were gifted, so I can't say how it wears. It knitted up beautifully, and was fun to handle. No pilling, shedding, or splitting while working with it. So soft!
