SLICK but be careful 4 out of 5 stars (4 out of 5)
It's hard to find 5 dpns in smaller sizes. I'm glad to find these they are lovely for socks. I use dpns and a knitting belt exclusively, and I'm a tight knitter, crocheter, etc. legacy of decades of cross-stitch. My other 5 sock set are carbon fiber, which is somewhat grabby. When I got these, it felt like someone had greased them, they are so slick! They are very fast needles in fact, faster than I knit, LOL. If you are a really loose knitter, you might find your non-working needle sailing out of your stitches. WHOOSH! I like them very much, but in the very skinny sizes 0 and 1 you need to be a little careful they will bend with less effort than you might think. Brass is a pretty soft metal It doesn't affect their function, but it's a bit disconcerting. So be careful how enthusiastically you grab them. Evidently this isn't a problem with the larger sizes. Decades ago, my mother knitted a bedspread out of #10 crochet cotton on tiny #00 dpns. It took her 20 years. Every so often my dad would take her curvy little needles down to the vise in the basement, and straighten them. If he or the vise were still around... If you try the vise trick, wrap the needle in something soft first, so the chrome doesn't get scratched. The 5 Size 0 cubic dpns are much heavier than either my carbon fiber or the same size 6 ChiaoGoo needles. This isn't good or bad, it just is. They are rather substantial. The points are long and sharp without being weapons grade. I didn't find that they split Opal, or were too sharp. I think perhaps I clutch these less than round needles, but I haven't used them much yet. I like them, and I am ordering more Cubics in larger and longer sizes for other projects. As always, Jimmy Beans customer service is stellar.

Likey! 5 out of 5 stars (5 out of 5)
I like these needles! They're square enough to feel good in your hands but not so square that the point catch on the other needle's squareness. I bought the nickel plated and will definitely come back for more of the wood. I have some tiny wood dpn's for sock knitting and they are just a joy to use.

Wonderful needles ... 5 out of 5 stars (5 out of 5)
... no matter their size or the yarn. My knitting buddy hates them so let me qualify that a. I knit very tightly, these needles have the perfect slip for me no matter the yarn or stitch, b. I use only 6 or 8. The 5 are too short for me. c. The points! I have swatched lace as well as 6-ply, no splitting and swift stitch loading I knit continental. I am replacing all of my dbl points with these needles.

Super needles! 5 out of 5 stars (5 out of 5)
These are great and the cubic style lets me get under my stitches much easier. They are really smooth, so are best with 'stickier' yarns. LOVE them!!
