As we stitch our way toward June, we begin to wonder if we will be celebrating Pride Month virtually, in our own homes rather than in large gatherings. Either way, we will be properly attired! The employees of Jimmy Beans Wool are... Proud to present you with 5 projects to show our collective Pride this year! Along with the yarn and pattern download code for your project, you will receive an exclusive Pride Pin.
The rainbow flag was first flown on June 25, 1978, at United Nations Plaza in San Francisco. Gilbert Baker, a gay artist and activist designed and hand sewed the first Pride flag at the behest of Harvey Milk, California's first openly gay elected official, as a symbol of hope for the LGTBQ community.
The bisexual pride flag was first unveiled on December 5th, 1998, designed by Michael Page to represent attraction to the same and different genders. This became the official symbol for the bisexual movement, increasing visibility in both the LGBTQ+ community as well as the whole of society.
