Cascade Mondo Yarn Reviews

As it's name suggests, Mondo is a super-di-duper chunky yarn! A blend of alpaca and wool, this cozy yarn looks almost like rope, but is super soft with great drape. Grab your giant needles and hooks and use it for quick knit and crochet project -or just use your arms to knit a bulky scarf or cowl! **Due to the super bulky size of this yarn, we do not offer winding service for it. We recommend that you wind it by hand, without a ball winder.**

I love Mondo! 5 out of 5 stars (5 out of 5)
My LYS closed recently *sob*, and I splurged on their 5 skeins of Mondo 3 in Walnut Heather, 2 in Charcoal, which had been there for all 3 months I'd known about the store I'd only been knitting about a month longer than that!. They were 50% off for the final week $48 down to $24/ea., so I got them all. I was pondering blanket patterns, and huge garment ideas, and thought I might need more of the dark brown, so I checked online, and found them available at Jimmy Beans, and they were having a big sale, and the Walnut Heather I wanted was $16/ea., and they had 5 in stock! I lingered a bit, took a shower, etc., and came back to find only 4 remaining, so I immediately bought them, along with 2 of the Birch Heather, also at that price the other colorways were sold out!. They arrived quickly, in great condition, and I'm now very excited to eventually decide what I'm doing with them. I kinda really want to make a very, very chunky cardigan in my very, very large size I'm a big guy. Whatever I do, I'm sure I'll love it. I just want to do something worthy of this amazingly thick, and incredibly soft yarn.

soft and lovely! 5 out of 5 stars (5 out of 5)
I used 3 skien of this to arm knit a blanket. This is a great yarn for that, and though the stitches will be loose, the end result it beautiful. I did mine in Scarlet and my blanket was around 36 x 60 or bigger. It was a super perfect throw size. I have a ravelry account by the same account name and a picture there. The balance of the alpaca with the plain wool makes the yarn soft and not as itchy. This does shed quite a bit, but I personally like that it is natural and not superwash. Overall ... This is up there with a yarn I would TOTALLY purchase again.
