You guys... you blew us away. Completely and utterly blew. us. away!! It's because of you and your support that in less than 3 days, we were able to raise $7500 for Make-A-Wish® to send Junior to LEGOLAND!! So today, in honor of Giving Tuesday, we're adopting two more wishes, Ayanni and Ronnie, to keep the spirit going strong!
This year, we started a raffle to raise money for a seven-year-old boy named Junior! Junior has acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL for short) and a big wish to go to LEGOLAND. With your support, we surpassed our goal in under 3 days! November marked his last month of chemotherapy, and we’re so excited to be able to help him celebrate this amazing accomplishment by granting his wish!
But the giving won’t be ending there! We’re also thrilled to announce that we’re adopting two more wishes from the Northeastern & Central California and Northern Nevada Make-A-Wish® Chapter to keep the spirit going strong!
Ayanni is a 16-year-old girl with a wish to feel comfortable in her own skin. Ayanni started her freshman year of high-school just like any other kid – a little anxious about this big step in her life and unsure of how to approach it. One day, she woke up and found a bump that was initially thought to be a bug bite. This bump kept growing, and would later be diagnosed as Ewing Sarcoma. This diagnosis and following chemotherapy treatments were devastating, to say the least, and while her self-esteem dipped, she never gave up hope.
Ayanni has recently started going back to school again, and while she has lost a lot of her hair through chemotherapy, she’s wearing a wig with a little more confidence now! Her treatments can make it a little hard to feel like herself, but that’s certainly not enough to stop her from hanging out with her nephew, Jayden (She even got to name him!), baking some sweet homemade treats, and listening to her favorite band, Banda MS. The little things like being able to still eat her favorite snacks like Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and Taco Bell keep her spirit up!
Ayanni’s wish is to be able to truly reinvent herself, to go on a shopping spree where she can buy lots of makeup, clothing, and jewelry. High school is already a scary and turbulent time for most, but being able to truly become who she wants to be will help her through it! The art of being a master makeup artist is more accessible than ever, and we’re confident we can help her achieve her wish!
We’re also sponsoring 19-year old Ronnie with his wish to go to Hawaii! Ronnie was always an active teen, playing soccer, running track, and playing football. This, however, was cut short during the summer of 2017, where he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia after starting to feel unexplainable weakness and pain. He immediately began chemotherapy and continued to get treatments for more than a year. His treatments gave Ronnie stomach problems and headaches that required staying in the hospital for up to 5 days following each session. While he still needs to receive treatments, Ronnie only needs about one a month now, which will continue until 2020.
Despite Ronnie’s illness making him take a break from school and athletics, he’s eagerly awaiting the day where he can sprint out into the field and get back in the groove of things! For now, Ronnie spends his time playing video games and watching telenovelas with his family, appreciating the time he can spend bonding with the people he loves.
Even though his treatments make him a little weak, Ronnie dreams of zip lining through the trees, swimming with the dolphins, and scuba diving in the clear waters of Hawaii! There, he can let his excitement loose with all of the fun activities during the day and still enjoy quality time with his family, truly getting to spend his vacation living the best of both worlds!
