Soak up the last bit of those summer rays in style! This month, we partnered with designer Monika Evans to create a linen summer hat that's perfect as a beach accessory or just to wear around town. You can knit one of two versions of Monika's "Summer Hat" - a floppy hat or a cloche - using one full skein and two half skeins of the included 100% linen Flax yarn from Fibra Natura. Go out of summer with a bang this year, looking fabulous in your hand-knit hat!
Here's a look at what's included this month:
Monika's pattern gives you two options for your hat's construction: you can either make a light-weight, large-brimmed hat with one strand throughout, or a cloche with the yarn held double for a denser fabric. Whichever option you choose, you're sure to look fabulous sporting your hat under the summer sun!

We're thrilled to bring you very special bag this month, packed with hand-painted pretties from one of our favorite dyers: Koigu!
This family-centered company, run by Maie Landra and her daughter Taiu, specializes in exquisite colorways, each skein painstakingly painted by hand. A true grass-roots business, they've kept their home-based operation just big enough to be run by Maie, Taiu, and a handful of local employees, and they pour love and care into each skein they paint - and you can see the gorgeous results for yourselves!
For this sampler, we've picked 2 colors each of Koigu American Merino, a soft, sport-weight merino wool, and either two of Koigu KPM or one of KPM and one of KPPPM, a lovely, fingering-weight merino wool.
Included in the bag as well are a Nancy's Perfect Notions Case, a compact notions holder with see-through compartments so you can find what you're looking for in a snap, plus a sample of Handmaid Lotion by Soak!
Sometimes you just need a little something to keep the chill off your neck, and this month's pattern for a Scarflette in Koigu's delicious merino wool is just the ticket!
Working up quickly on a size 6 needle, this lovely little thing was designed by Rachel of Unraveled Designs; it features a very wearable asymmetrical shape and rows of eyelets for visual interest - and, of course, Koigu's beautiful colors!

Modern knitters know that yarn construction matters: the way a yarn is built can complement its fibers and behavior to result in many different desired effects, such as durability, resistance to pilling and stretching, or even color sequencing.
This month's yarns are a mixed bag, literally: single-ply, chainette, plied, and flecked, self-striping tweed combine to make something truly magical!
To help you try them out, we put together a bag with 50-yard samples of Berroco Maya, Juniper Moon Farm Moonshine, Plymouth Mushishi, and HiKoo Kenzie, plus a printed pattern from Jeanne of Battle Born Knits that uses them all in a wonderfully warm cowl, a full-sized Chibi Tapestry Needle set, a Knitting Dolly for making knitted I-cord, and a sample of Heel foot cream from Soak, all packed away in a custom drawstring bag!
Our very own Jeanne Giles of Battle Born Knits hopped to her needles and whipped up a fun striped cowl to put these gorgeous yarns to the test (and show them off!). With simple lace elements mixed with forgiving rib stitch, this lovely cowl is as versatile as it is warm.
You can even knit an i-cord tie (use your new Knitting Dolly!), thread it through the lace, and scrunch it up on one side for a stylish twist, or cinch the top together to make it into a slouchy hat!
