Challenging to knit, beautiful result
(4 out of 5)
I'd never worked with mohair before, but this was the yarn called for in the Willow pattern a 2 color brioche scarf by Nancy Marchant. I'd also never done a full brioche project. If you've never knit brioche before, you'll be doing a lot of ripping back. Which, as I discovered, is an absolute nightmare with this yarn. This yarn is so sticky that I sometimes had to cut the fine hairs to be able to undo a stitch. Also, when you pass a stitch from the left needle to the right, it occasionally drags an extra stitch with it, resulting in a dropped stitch. Fortunately, the yarn's so sticky dropped stitches don't spontaneously run down, But they're still annoying, especially in brioche. I was cursing this yarn right up until I cast off. But once I cast off: oh, my goodness, what a beautiful result! I'm thinking it was actually worth all the headaches the stickiness caused. You can see my finished project on Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/projects/JBChristy/willow . I love the puffiness of the scarf, which I think is due to both the lightness and the stickiness of this yarn. Bottom line: It can be a pain to work with, especially if you make a lot of mistakes. But it's worth the pain, because it's GORGEOUS!
