| Meet Our PopUp, Outlander Book, & Blue Sky Bundles Retail Reopening T-Minus 4 Days! | | |
It's scary how fast this year went by! We're already looking forward to November and our 11th pop up of the year! Can you believe it!? This year has simultaneously flown by while also standing completely still - some days we would wake up and not even know what month it was, let alone what day it was - how weird is that! We aren't the only ones that felt this way either! Since it's almost November, we thought we would hop on that train and announce that Amano Yarns is our next pop up!
|
Founded in 2014 in the Peruvian Andes, Amano Yarns combines their love for Andean culture and history with the natural fibers and elements from the remote mountain range. Their passion for slow fashion and storytelling makes every one of their fibers unique and filled with rich history!
We had the chance to sit down with Ellen Saville, the Creative Director at Amano, for a quick interview to learn all about what makes these Andean fibers so special.

Mamacha is a super bulky yarn that's soft and perfect for all of your wintertime crafts! Mamacha means "loved and respected mother" in Quechua, which is the language of the Inca. Much like how they love and respect the land and animals they get their fibers from! We can't wait to cozy up in our new sweaters using this yarn! Each skein is a gorgeous blend of 70% baby alpaca and 30% Merino wool, effortlessly marrying the worlds of warmth and comfort!
The gorgeous fingering-weight yarn Puna means "mountains of the Andes", which is exactly where the alpaca they use are raised! Each skein is made of 100% baby alpaca, meaning the softness of these skeins is unparalleled! Every project made from this yarn will personally thank you for indulging in such a sumptuous and luxurious yarn to craft with! This yarn works very well no matter the pattern with its plush feel and versatile nature!
Yana means "black sheep" in Quechua because of Amano Yarns' belief that the black sheep defi-knit-ly stands out from the herd. Though that's not always a bad thing! Yana is a flexible yarn that can be used in many different crafts like knitting, crocheting, felting - even just loving it is enough! Made out of 100% Highland wool, this yarn will keep you nice and toasty when the winter chills start to howl and the snow begins to fall!
As always, our resident Pattern Princess, Amy Gunderson, created three exclusive projects, made to show off each of these super squishy yarns! Inspired by the rigid peaks, the lush landscape, and the tranquil beauty of Peru, each of these chunky knits was designed to embody fall and all its cozy, squishy, comfy goodness! And because each pattern requires no less than a size US 4 needle, they knit up in no time!
Are you interested in learning more about Amano Yarns? We were too! By checking our latest blog post, you can get all of the details like how Amano Yarns started, what challenges they've faced, and even something silly like how they would decorate a yarn-themed parade float (and we gotta say, it's a pretty great answer)!

Available in five different colorways, these bundles are made up of adorably cute mini skeins of the ever-popular Woolstok base to make your colorwork dreams come true!

What's in a Craftvent?
What goes into a Craftvent Calendar, we always wonder. Well, to answer that question, we had a small interview with our Production Princess, Sam, for all of the dirty deets on how they end up looking so fabulous! We quickly stole away into her room between the various ghouls and ghosts that haunt her abode. Then we saw her fiery red hair in the distance - there she was! We shuffled over, microphone in hand, and got her attention. She greeted us with glee, "Hey guys!" Her smile was infectious and we couldn't help but fall under her spell! We laughed and greeted her in return before launching into some questions.
"What kinds of treats can we expect to find in this year's Craftvent Calendar?"
"Well, I can tell you that they're positively yummy! One of the days has two truffles - one white chocolate and one milk chocolate. Another day we have something to warm you up in the way of one milk chocolate and one dark chocolate hot cocoa!"
|
|
We nodded, licking our lips in anticipation, "and what about accessories? We can't forget about those!"
Sam nodded in response, clapping her hands together, "Well, that's my little secret!" She laughed as we scoffed in response and then continued, "We have a very elegant pair of scissors included as well as the crochet hooks or knitting needles everyone will need to start their project! We also have an adorable stitch marker set of snowflakes to really get us in the winter sprit!
Sam knew everything about this project, so her helpful answers got us in the mood for Christmas! With gingerbread house making and watching the snow fall outside, she was certainly doing a good job of getting us in the holiday spirit!
|
"What can you say about the yarn? How is it special?"
"The yarn is special because it's all wound by the Beans here to give those who participate the perfect amount without fear of having extra in their stash or running out mid-row! The yarn is Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light, so the single-ply nature of it makes it harder to split!"
"One last question. Should we expect any special ingredients that you're holding out on us?"
Sam couldn't help but laugh, "You sillies! The secret ingredient is love! After I pack up every Craftvent, I give it a little hug to make sure its journey to the doorsteps and mailboxes of our customers is a safe one!"
This brought a tear to our eyes. Sam was like the embodiment of Christmas joy! We thanked her for her time and said our goodbyes, filled with a new love and appreciation for the behind-the-scenes actions in making Craftvent!

Tosh is Making an Impression!
Mohair has certainly been a hot topic over the past year and a half! Bundling up in soft and supple stings never goes out of fashion, but some fibers are just a little softer than others, and we've been searching for something softer than our favorite mohair blends! Featuring spooky, hazy clouds around our projects, it's like you're being hugged by an incredibly warm and friendly ghost!
Madelinetosh Impression will have you, well, making a lasting impression on your friends, coworkers, associates, and needles! This hand-dyed lace-weight yarn is 70% mohair and 30% silk, giving you a luxuriously buttery feel and a ghostly halo around the fibers! Whether you use it along with another yarn to make use of that haze, or alone for a wispy, airy piece, this is great for all sorts of garments and accent pieces! Each skein holds a generous 420 yards to play with, making your next crafting session that much more special!
Please note: Have you fallen in love with a color, but there isn't enough in stock? You can still go ahead and place your order, and we'll follow up and let you know how long it'll take to arrive. No minimums are necessary!

O-M-G it's really happening! As you read this, the Beans are putting the final touches on our retail shop to make it a wonderful and pleasant experience for you! Putting a whole lotta love and thought into where things are placed and how it'll greet you, we're excited to announce that our retail shop will officially be open NEXT. WEEK. This is NOT a drill - we repeat, NOT A DRILL! This is possibly the biggest treat we could've asked for this Halloween!
While you take a look around our new retail setup, we do ask that you be sure to follow the current rules we have in place during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please plan for the following:
|
|
- Wear a mask that covers both your nose and mouth. If you don't have a mask, we are happy to provide one for you!
- Sanitize your hands as you enter the store. We will have hand sanitizer provided upon entry.
- Expect limited capacity. No more than 5 visitors will be allowed inside at a time.
- Social distance at least six feet from fellow fiber enthusiasts. Those who arrived together may, of course, shop together.
To keep our retail shop sanitized and our office and fulfillment teams safe, please note that we will be restricting access to the warehouse and bathrooms for the duration of the pandemic. Unfortunately, it's just too tough to keep track of every customer and their whereabouts outside the boundaries of our retail store. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience!

We're so excited to see you all again - it's been too long! See ya next week - happy making!
