We have to admit - we can't keep it in any longer! Here at Jimmy Beans, we love rainbows! They're so happy and colorful and they signal the bright side of summer storms! While we could go on for days searching for that fabled pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, we're too enamored by just staring at it sometimes. We've decided that we HAVE to harness this beauty in yarn - that way, we can have these cheery natural phenomena on us at all times to act as little pick-me-ups on those particularly rainy days!
|
One of our favorite rainbow-inspired yarns comes from Urth Yarns and we're super excited to announce that we've picked up new shades in some of our favorite bases: Uneek Fingering and Uneek Worsted! Urth Yarns Uneek yarns are self-striping masterpieces that are gorgeous to look at and even more scrumptious to make with! You may recognize them in pieces like the Papillon Shawl by MarinJa Knits! She uses the stripes to her advantage by designing a winding, wavy pattern that always seems to be the talk of the building!
|
|
She now has a project for every occasion you could ever think of with a flair for the colorful! From ponchos and shawls to cowls and blankets, there's always a little bit of joy you can attach to your day-to-day life! Each pattern is available as a PDF download from Jimmy Beans, meaning you can always have your pattern on you with any device that has your email attached to it!

One of the things we admire most about our pop-up shops is how dedicated they are to their craft! We are inspired by their passion for vivid color dyed with artisan's hands; soft, supple fibers spun from their own animals; and the fun part of naming everything accordingly. The process is super tedious but oh-so-worth-it because it results in a full catalog of gorgeous works of art that others can then use in their own works of art - it's the gift that keeps on giving!
|
|
In our most recent pop-up, we learned that Tabbethia, the mastermind behind Long Island Yarn and Farm did exactly that (with a hard focus on the animals)! Tabbethia got her animal science degree and immediately got to work in carving a name for herself in the industry - though, surprisingly enough, she didn't start as an advanced knitter! She actually started spinning fibers before anything else! In doing this, Tabbethia can assure that all of the fibers you get from her are thoughtfully made and consciously spun!
|
By knowing exactly where your fibers come from, you can rest easy knowing how the animals are treated, and that's just what Tabbethia was aiming for. Each hank is made with love from start to finish, resulting in a soft, squishy skein that glides on your needles and hooks with ease!
Are you interested in learning more about Tabbethia and her journey through the fiber arts community? By checking out our official blog post, you can read an interview where she talks about all things wool (as well as what kind of parade float she would make in a yarn-themed parade, hehe)!

Stock Your Shelves!
With a nice Madelinetosh Vintage!
We're excited to announce that we just restocked our stash of Madelinetosh Tosh Vintage yarn, and they're all ripe for the pickin'! Talk about top-shelf yarn!
Madelinetosh Tosh Vintage yarn is a 100% superwash merino wool with a generous 200 yards per skein, making it a wonderful choice for any project you could think of! Each skein is hand-dyed with love and visually matched by our Beans when ordered in quantities of two or more! With the autumn season slowly creeping up on us, this yarn is the perfect way to ring in the cooler weather because, not only is it gorgeous to look at, but it's addictive to squish!
Fan favorites like Antler, Coquette Deux, Misfortune, and Saffron are back in stock, and we have to admit, it's hard to keep our own hands off of them! This means that the sweater you've been putting off is finally back on the table for what you can accomplish this month! Are you interested in a shade we missed in our restock? Go ahead and place your order, and we'll get back to you with an estimate of how long it'll take to get in-house!
We love yummy yarns so much, our Bean, Sam, hugs outgoing packages so you can feel the same kind of love we have for our craft (and squishy strings, of course)!

Something Out Of This Wool-d!
As makers, we have an eye for detail that other people may not have (after all, how do you think we could spot a wrongfully purled stitch in a super intricate pattern? We're magical). We need to use this power for good and uncover the truth behind what's really out there! From unexplained lights to crop circles and cows mysteriously vanishing from fields - there HAS to be an explanation, and who better to sleuth it out than us!?
|
|
The Jimmy Beans Crew snuck out one night to the remote Nevada desert in search of clues as to why everything has been so strange lately. We couldn't be the only ones trying to figure it out, right? After a lot of walking and a finished project later (Our Bean, Adrienne, finished a shawl as we were walking - talk about multitasking!), we came across a glowing green crater in the dry, cracked earth.
"Stay back!" our Bean, Alex, warned everyone. But eventually, curiosity got the better of us, and a few of the Beans carefully slid down the sides of the hole to discover what it was. And when we tell you it was out of this wool-d, it was truly Out of This World!
Our Marketing Maven, Julia, grabbed a box from inside the crater and took a close look at it before jiggling it around. There was something inside! Being the bravest of the bunch, she opened it without hesitation!!
|
|
Inside, she found NINE skeins of Madelinetosh Unicorn Tails in shades she had never seen before in gray, green, and blue! There was also a little stitch marker in the shape of an alien in a UFO as well as a small code etched onto a piece of paper. Upon further investigation, we found this to be the code to access the Bellatrix Shawlette designed by Amy Gunderson (who we think may be an alien in disguise). This stripey shawlette was designed with those of us who hate weaving in ends in mind! With each chevron, the ends are tied to make a fringe border, which solves the huge headache that weaving in ends always seems to give us!

Adrienne's Accessories!
Ever since the dawn of time, makers and hobbyists have had an insatiable urge to participate in our craft 24/7. We even have childhood memories of staying up late to finish what we were doing and dodging the glares from our parents as they checked on us by pretending we were asleep.
That kind of daredevilry isn't lost on us and made us a little wily as adults! Nothing is more upsetting than being beckoned to go to sleep by your partner when you want to finish a row, nay, NEED to finish that row - after all, what do they know? You hunger to get this done, but you relent, your row half-finished. Until, that is, you slink into bed, wait for them to fall asleep, and turn your personal lamp on to see what you're doing and continue on your merry way. Yeah, you're gonna finish this row gosh darn it!
|
With the Beam N' Read Lights, you can hone your craft late into the night without bothering your partner, children, or pets (the guilt we feel on that last one is too much to bear)! This handy light hangs around your neck for a comfortable, hands-free way to see while you stitch, whether during movie night when the lights are low, while traveling, or just because you need a little extra light when the sun goes down! This light has 6 LEDs in it for a bright, focused glow and two filters to help your eyes relax - now there is never a time NOT to make!

Nothing is more exciting than a frightful Halloween straight from Jimmy Beans! The walls have oozed with green, but a new project is here to truly make us scream!
With delight, of course!
Time is always such a strange concept to us. Can you believe that we only have a month and a half left before we can cast on for this project? That means Halloween is just around the corner and we're squealing with joy! The best way to celebrate with a bang is with the Jimmy Beans Wool Fright Club project! The Cowl-O-Ween Fright Club Kit is like the spooky sister to the original Craftvent Calendar set in the month of October. And the project? A mosaic cowl available in two colorways!:
|
|
Mellow: Featuring autumnal shades of orange, red, and blue, this colorway is reminiscent of the crisp fall air and warm pumpkin pies fresh out of the oven. This shade range reminds us of cinnamon-scented candles and crunchy leaves underfoot.
Bright: Made of neon orange, bright purple, and pitch black, this colorway is like the joy of children's laughter and lounging on a squeaky swing. It's like the sugar rush you get at 3 AM after eating a handful of chocolate and building pillow forts with your best friend.
|
To sweeten the deal even more, this project also comes with instructions for both crocheters and knitters to join in on the fun! You will receive a set of knitting needles as well as a crochet hook suitable to complete the project, so no one gets left behind! You'll also find a few treats in each kit, but we can't exactly spill the beans on what they are, hehe!
We skulked around the Jimmy Beans Haunted-House where spooky strings and apparitions of accessories float through the aisles. We were on a mission to figure out why the Beans love the chilly autumn season so much, and they did not disappoint (once we found them hiding from the ghosts, of course)! Check out our blog post for why this season is special to each one of them!

Project On Our Needles
Rowan's Striped Tank Top
Some of us are shifting into fall knits, but Rowan says summer is still going strong with this flirty tee! The simple design of the stripes is complemented by the deep, plunging neckline in the back. The scoop neck in front rests comfortably on the wearer and mirrors the horizontal stripes perfectly! Our Bean, Wendy, flaunted her stuff as she modeled it and didn't want to take it off because it was so comfortable!
Whether you're lounging around the house or simply strutting down the street to get the mail, this top is great for all occasions!
