| Soak Eco Wash Bags, Marianated Yarns, & VK Live! Eiffel In Love With La Bien Aimee! | | |
It's OFFICIALLY 2020, meaning we can finally let y'all in on the secret behind our monthly pop-ups! As you may know, we've discontinued our Indie Club, but that gave us room to really showcase some of our favorite independent dyers and companies to highlight each month with more variety in yarn bases, colors, and projects!!
|
|
To start the year out strong, we selected Aimee from La Bien Aimee. Aimee dabbled in playing around with the Kool-Aid method of dyeing yarn back in the early 2000s but didn't start really getting into the swing of things until 2015, and the rest is, well, knit-story! Starting only 5 years ago in her kitchen in Paris, she's now grown to be a staple in the indie world. Her eye for color really shines through her love for intricate colorwork, and we. Are. Loving. It! Being able to wake up in Paris and draw inspiration from the daily hustle and bustle and complex architecture of the city is a dream, and Aimee is living it!!

The three yarns we've chosen are Cashmerino, Merino Aran, and Merino DK: - Cashmerino is a super-soft blend of merino wool and cashmere with a splash of nylon for durability. Available in a wide array of shades, this fingering-weight yarn is PERFECT for shawls and sweaters! Each skein comes with a generous 473 yards!
- Merino Aran is truly the best of both worlds, offering a luxuriously soft yarn that isn't itchy against your skin AND has excellent stitch-definition, it's a win-win! This 100% merino wool yarn has 182 yards to a skein.
- Merino DK, AKA the most beautifully bouncy yarn we've squished in a while!! Each skein brings you 252 yards of 100% superwash merino yarn that's versatile in use, which makes it super easy to choose which yarn we want for our next adult sweater or baby blanket! Each project made with this yarn surely will not disappoint!

Our Bean, Amy, fell in love with these bases and squirrelled them away to make three patterns out of them! Featuring a shawl, a sweater, and a hat, there's a little something for everyone to get a taste of Paris on their needles! Each design was thoughtfully created with a little inspiration from France hidden in all of them - you can see hints of the Eiffel Tower in each design! C'est magnifique!

*Cheesy infomercial voice* We've all seen those crazy gadgets where you can place something in a pot and leave it while you catch up on your favorite show only to come back to a delicious, perfectly-cooked meal, right? Well, what if we told you that you can do the same for your handmade projects!? Though, we do advise that you don't try and eat them. That isn't the kind of fiber you need in your body - just on it, hehe!
Oh yeah, you read that right! New from Soak, we've picked up some Eco Wash Bags that act as a lifeguard for your projects! Safe to toss into your washer AND dryer, all you gotta do is place your project inside, zip it up, and put it into the wash on a delicate setting with cool water! The best part is that it works well for both top and front-loading machines!
|
What makes this bag eco is the fact that it's made from 8+ 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles, keeping them out of landfills in a smart way! These bags are also an ideal storage solution for any work in progress, as you can see exactly what's inside it without digging through your other project bags looking for that ONE half-finished cowl you had put off for yourself when the holidays rolled around. When you're done, you can hang it up on a hook for easy cleanup!
|
|
These nifty bags are available in a rainbow of colors that pair with each Soak scent and come in two sizes: Slim (shaped like a disc with a 16" diameter) and Generous (shaped like a half-sphere with a 16" diameter). Use Slim for your socks and other small projects and Generous for your sweaters!

Smooth Sailing Ahead!
|
One of our favorite things about 2019 was the explosion in the popularity of gradients and fades - it's just one of those trends that we just can't let go! You could even say we're... Marianating in it, hehe!!
From Marianated Yarns, we've picked up the gorgeous Smooth Sailing Twisted Trio that leaves us anything BUT blue! Each hand-dyed hank features a beautiful range of cool shades from deep ocean blue to lighter baby blue with hints of emerald woven in, which are aptly named Glacial Lake, Sea of Glass, and Tidal Pool!
|
This fingering-weight yarn is made from 100% superwash merino, and believe us, they're just as fun to squish as they are to make with! Each skein offers 155 yards to play with, which gives you the perfect excuse to use the skeins individually for edging or colorwork, or to utilize the fade in a project on its own!

Thank Goodness It's...
Free Pattern Friday! Y'all asked, and we're here to deliver! Quite a few of you guys have wished for the pattern for a certain white hat you've seen in some of our Instagram posts! Designed by our own Bean, Winni, this cute cap was made for our Holiday Open House back in December and only requires one skein of Madelinetosh Tosh Vintage Yarn! We just couldn't keep the joy of making this unique project to ourselves, so it's now available as a free pattern download as well as a kit on our site with versions available for knitters AND crocheters (with the crochet pattern created by another one of our Beans, Brandi)!!

2020 Needles and Notions Club!
We're starting out 2020 right with a new club! That's right, this year, we're doing something a little different and offering a Needles and Notions Club that's unique to Jimmy Beans! We like to think of it as a needle tasting of sorts to give you a feel for each material and brand that will be offered in your monthly shipment! Each month will be themed after a different needle, with exclusive notions and a new cast-on technique to try!
|
This subscription is priced at $20.00 per month (including shipping!) for our U.S. customers, or you can choose to pre-pay for a 6-month or 12-month gift subscription. If you opt to pay monthly, you will not be charged until your order has shipped, which will be between the 13th and 17th of each month. Be sure to grab yours soon, because spots are limited and they're goin' quick!
Please Note: We will not be offering crochet hooks in this club at this time, but fear not, as the 2020 Hedgehog Fibres Shawl Club and 2020 Hedgehog Fibres Blanket Club have crochet support this year!

New years bring new adventures, and it looks like Laura (affectionately known as Jimmy) is back on the road again! This time, it's landing her in the city that never sleeps, AKA, the city that's home to a certain web-slinging superhero - New York City! While the Queen Bean may not be able to swing from rooftop to rooftop with silk, she DOES do a mighty fine job knitting with it and being the avid maker she is, we're going to be celebrating Vogue Knitting Live's 10th anniversary!
|
|
Come visit Jimmy and the Beans, Amy (pictured packing all of our goodies) and Jasmine, for some fabulous fibers from Madelinetosh, beautiful bags from della Q and Namaste, and friendly conversation - we're stoked when you guys come on by just to say "hi!"!
We're going to be hanging out in Booth #710 AND hosting the fashion show featuring Namaste and Madelinetosh - eek! We're so excited, we can't wait to see you guys there!!

Project On Our Needles!
Winni's Jimmy's Little Helper Hat
Our Bean, Winni, whipped up some super-cute, super-squishy hats to keep our heads warm this winter! This hat has a fun design that's not only easy to learn but easy to adapt to different head sizes. And the best part? It only needs one skein of Madelinetosh Tosh Vintage yarn and a pom pom! With our influx of yarn we got over the holidays, we maaaay have a new obsession of one-skein stash-busting, because believe us, it's impossible to be down in the dumps when you have this fun hat on your noggin'!
This pattern is available for free from the Jimmy Beans Wool website! We also have kit options for both knitters AND crocheters!
