| Shawl we? New hooks, new books, & retail is OPEN It's (Not) A Trap: Millennium Fibers Are Here! | | |
As a way to celebrate spring, our friends at Madelinetosh have dyed up something ultra-special. This time of year is affectionately referred to in the community as Mad May, and we're so excited to be a part of it this year, dreaming up two beautiful projects that were made to show off this gorgeous colorway named "This is Just to Say".

This feels so special - it's like in the movies when your knight in training finally receives his saber!
Hand-dyed and inspired by plum blossoms and the sweetness of spring weather, this colorway is meant to represent the changing of the seasons, which feels especially enticing to us now because, although it's April, we just received a cold front that resulted in some snow! Come on, weather, it's supposed to be nice enough to bask outside, and we've found that we've had to set our heaters on high this past week!

Choose between two (or both!) projects to get into the spirit of spring! Each kit contains a skein of Madelinetosh Yarn (Tosh Merino Light for the shawl, Twist Light for the socks), a card of ten stitch markers made by Katrinkles, and a download code for your pattern. We want to thank the designers who made this all possible: Adrienne Anila for the Smooth Sailing Shawl and Jean Knapp for the Elves & Elms Socks! Both designs show off the colorway in a brilliant fashion and get us in the mood for those breezy, mild-temperature days we have to look forward to!

A long twine ago in a galaxy far, far away... We all know the running joke by now. Quoting the princess and her companions by exclaiming that a certain iconic spaceship is nothing but a bucket of bolts, or maybe you reference the more recent films, laughing as you say, "the garbage will do." It's like this poor spaceship can't catch a break despite how, er, reliable it's been! Speaking of ol' reliable, we're celebrating May the 4th with a fan-favorite kit.

Yarn Wars The Millenium Fiber is perfect for all lovers of the star-traveling saga. Whether you align yourself with the heroes or see the humanity in the villains, one thing is for certain - we love that freedom of choice. That's why there's no included pattern in this kit, giving you the freedom to make whatever you want out of these exclusive skeins of Madelinetosh Unicorn Tails.
Stock your stash, use them for a cool colorwork project, or add a touch of fun to your next endeavor - the possibilities are endless!

Our design team had so much fun coming up with names like Heir Apparent, D3SR-TR, and, of course, our favorite: WAAAOOOWWWEEEE!
What do you say, trooper? Ready to get settled in and make? Grab your sabers, er... needles and hooks, and let's get to it!

You didn't think that's ALL we had to offer, did you? It's over, makers - we have the high ground! And by high ground, we mean we have a yarn with high twist energy comin' at ya. Inspired by the typical color palette of our favorite father figure comes the Madelinetosh colorway, Kenobi. Soft and variegated, ranging from a gray/green to a desaturated brown, this shade is perfect for any neutral-lover's wardrobe, showing off color beautifully with just enough drape and structure to craft your next favorite project! This color is only available in the Madelinetosh DK Twist base, effectively making it a limited edition colorway. Well, whaddya say, young purl-awan, are you ready to take this on?!

Sensational Shawls!
Have you ever wondered why those that are keen with the force are always dressed, well, like that? They're practically fashion icons, adorned in robes that have gorgeous drape, typically found in light neutrals and wine-dark shades. Ever since we were young, we would play pretend, acting as if the force was strong with us, jumping from rock to rock in loose-fitting clothing. What, was that just us?
|
Bringing that fantasy to life is the incredible new Laine Magazine 52 Weeks of Shawls book. Keep busy year-round with gorgeous photography, beautiful patterns, and exquisite colorways dreamt up by the world's top designers such as Stephen West, Susanne Sommer, and Aleks Byrd. Think of this book as a continuation of 52 Weeks of Socks, which is officially back in stock!
The care that went into this book is incredible, seen in its woven hard cover; 272 uncoated, high-quality pages; and ribbon place marker.

Swing Into Action!
Forget horoscopes - what color is your saber? We've talked about this a lot here at Jimmy Beans, starting our questions with who has the strength to wield colors such as blue or green, and who would fall to the dark side and wield a red one? Okay, fall maybe isn't the best word to use - we just think the red sabers are cool as heck! We've even had a few Beans report that they would love to connect with their crystal and get a purple one, while some chose the diplomatic route and opted for colors such as orange. Whatever your saber color may be, we've got an option for you!

Color-coding is always a fun way to organize, keeping things light and carefree with rainbows of colors. That's why we're so fond of the addi Swing Hooks. Color-coded for easy retrieval from your project bag, you can tell exactly what size you're grabbing.
These crochet hooks are also precisely contoured to fit in your hand perfectly, using two different types of plastic (one firm and one soft) to give your hands a much-needed break from the wear and tear of your typical crochet hook.

Channel The Force!
Training to become a master of the force has got to be difficult. All of the sleepless nights, the force-induced headaches, and the anxiety of getting things incorrect has gotta weigh heavy on those of us trying to become more in tune with that energy. Luckily for us knitters, we've got something to help us train that gives us an edge in our studies. Who knew a single book would help us out so much?
|
With the new Star Wars - Knitting the Galaxy book by Tanis Gray, you can channel the force with ease, feeling the energy course through your needles directly into your project.
This book includes 25 projects, from toys to home decor to wearable objects, complemented by gorgeous full-color photography throughout. Ready your sabers (er, needles) and jump into your next favorite nerdy project (we use nerdy around here as a term of endearment, don't worry)! Grab your books soon because once they're gone, they're off to a galaxy far, far away!

It is with happy hearts that we announce that our retail space is officially reopening to the public! With new COVID-19 regulations in place, we can have up to 10 people in our shop at a time without the need for a prior appointment slot starting on Monday, May 3rd.
We want to thank you all for being so patient with us and our reopening schedule, and we're pleased to see even more of you as restrictions are slowly lifted.
Come see us between the hours of 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Mon-Sat for some good ol'-fashioned yarn squishin', a little talk about projects, and, of course, taking in the sight of the stellar rainbows we have around the new retail space. We can't wait to see you guys!

Project On Our Needles!
Wendy's Clone Trooper Hat
Alexa? Play the Imperial March!
As we prepare to marathon all of our favorite star-traveling movies in time for May the 4th (which order do YOU watch them in?), our Bean Wendy was way ahead of us by knitting up this adorable Clone Trooper Hat from the Star Wars - Knitting the Galaxy book! Joining in the round of the Dark Side, Wendy decided to adjust the colors to something more sinister, something even Vader himself would take pride in!
Are you interested in making your own Clone Trooper Hat? We've made kits in a bunch of fun colorways inspired by the many different kinds of Troopers out there, ranging from variants found in the comics to the animated series, and, of course, the iconic films!
