This dress is a darling addition to anyone's summer wardrobe and, with the range of cotton fabrics available, it can be made again & again. The dress goes together easily; start Saturday a.m. and you'll have a dress that night. The bust measurement is critical, as the bodice of the dress is close-fitting. For those of you who, like me, are pear-shaped, additional width as needed for butt/hips/thighs can be easily added. MEASURE the skirt pattern before adding on width, however. FOR THOSE WHO ARE LARGER THAN A B-CUP: You will need to add length to the front and back bodice to ensure "the girls" have enough room. TO DO THIS: about 1" down from the armhole, cut across the width of the front & back bodice pieces. Lay the two slices of front pattern pieces and two slices of back pattern pieces on separate sheets of tissue paper. Slide the slices apart to add 1" to 1 1/2" and tape the top and bottom slices in this new position to the tissue paper. Proceed as usual with the altered pattern pieces. This pattern alteration should allow enough added fabric to cover "the girls," maintain the empire waist of the dress design, and allow you to have some wearing ease. It also is THE pattern alteration to do for C & D-cup girls, or if the girls are "drifting south." DO NOT simply add the length to the bottoms of the bodice pieces; that will throw off the waistband attachment. I strongly suggest trying out the altered bodice with scrap fabric to tweak the fit. Above all -- enjoy! This is a great summer dress and would also work as a bride's or bridesmaid's dress for a summer "country" wedding. Kudos to the designer!
