| Breast Cancer, Craftvent Layaway, & Downton Abbey! Knocker Blockers Have Arrived! | | |
|
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this year, we're doing our part by partnering with the non-profit organizations BreastCancer.org and Knitted Knockers!
This is our third year in a row partnering with BreastCancer.org. Their mission is to provide the most reliable, up-to-date information about breast cancer to those who actively battle with it. For every $1 they raise, three women get started on the journey they need to better fight this disease and make the best choices possible to protect themselves.
This is also the first year we're partnering with Knitted Knockers. This organization offers cancer survivors free handmade breast prostheses to any woman who wants them. Purely running off of volunteer efforts from knitters and crocheters alike, Knitted Knockers are comfortable and soft - totally a breath of fresh air compared to traditional breast prosthetics, which are usually heavy and expensive!
To help raise awareness for this disease, we've put together new, exclusive projects:
|
The Whirling Dervish Cowl is a knit cowl designed by Afifa Sayeed of Afifa Knits. Using one skein of Neighbourhood Fibre Co. Studio DK in the color Strength, this project features delicately winding cables against a reverse stockinette background. This kit comes in a pink Oh Snap Bag and includes a Maker's Dot Journal, Soak Mini-Soak packet, leather tag, and exclusive stitch markers from A Needle Runs Through It. $5 from each kit sold will be donated to BreastCancer.org.
The Breakers Cowl is a crochet cowl designed by Deanne Ramsey of Addydae Designs. This project has sections of rippling lace and comes in a pink Oh Snap bag, including exclusive stitch markers from A Needle Runs Through It, a leather tag, a Soak Mini-Soak, and a Maker's Dot Journal. This project also uses one skein of the Strength colorway by Neighbourhood Fibre Co. in Studio DK. $5 from every kit sold will be donated to BreastCancer.org.

Tragedy and happiness go hand in hand (er, go together like tea and crumpets?) within the walls of the abbey and when one person experiences a boon, another... well, not so much. A few years back, we had the pleasure of carrying a few colors inspired by this series and sadly, like all exclusive shades, had to bid them adieu - some could say this emotional whiplash was poetic in how it mirrored the show's own twists perfectly!
|
Just like the pure delight of seeing our favorite family again (on the silver screen, no less!), Lorna's Laces had us crying tears of joy by reviving three limited edition colorways from 2014 and 2015!
Oh yeah, Bated Breath, Edith's Secret, and Yorkshire Skies are back, baby! Not only have they returned to bask in the limelight they truly deserve, but they're now speckled!
Make a fade with all three hues or stock up on your favorite color with just a skein (or two!).

Cast On, Tune In!
Have you ever just sat there and pondered about how your favorite craft came to be? Who came up with the brilliant idea of making loops and knots with just two needles and string? Why is it called throwing? Where the heck did these terms even come from!?

Rachel Roden and Heather Boyd help dig up the answer to these questions in their new podcast: "Historical Yarns". Each episode takes you around the world to uncover old-school knitting traditions through the lens of archaeology and then applies it to the lacy, swirling, Zetland Shawl designed by Rachel Roden!
Using four skeins of Biches et Buches La Petit Lambswool, Rachel created this beautiful wrap to release in conjunction with episode 1 of Historical Yarns, and the pattern is available for pre-sale now at 40% off!
|
No code is necessary, just add it to your cart, but be sure to grab it quick, because after the first episode airs on October 4th, the price will increase to $8.00! Grab a kit so you can cast on while you tune in to uncover these mysteries!
|
It seams we've stumbled upon a clue about season one! We're going to be traveling to northern and eastern Europe to uncover secrets about lace knitting, including Shetland, Estonian, and Orenburg techniques!

September's Sneak Peeks!
We're heading into the final stretch of the year, meaning the next 3-month projects for both Jimmy's Knit Club and Jimmy's Crochet Club are starting soon! We're so excited that we just can't hide it, so we're spillin' the beans on the projects - oops! Each project offers a fun experience for people who may need a little more squish in their lives (but, seriously, who DOESN'T?).
Designed by Shanel Wu, Jimmy's Knit Club is taking a turn for the cozy! Using Malabrigo Rios and Berroco Ultra Wool, we're going to be making slippers! The sturdy sole and colorful structure is absolutely perfect (pairfect?) to use around the house while staying warm - no frozie toesies this winter!
No one can turn down a warm, comfortable project once fall hits! Jimmy's Crochet Club will also have some slippers on your hooks this quarter! Designed by Heidi Gustad, these stripe-tacular slippers are made from Malabrigo Rios and Berroco Ultra Wool for something comfortable and flexible to wear around the house!

They're Finally Here!
It's #FlashbackFriday, and all the way back in summer school, we told y'all a HUGE secret! No, it wasn't that fact about moose being able to swim - however that is still a terrifying thought to this day. This specific secret may have a little something to do with SmartStix!
|
Oh yeah, it's totally happening, you guys. SmartStix Interchangeable Tips are OFFICIALLY here and just yearning for some yarn! Crafted from the same lightweight aluminum as the SmartStix Circular Needles and Crochet Hooks, these terrific tips help provide a sleek surface for your yarn to glide across, making each stitch easy to work without risk of splitting! The tips themselves are four inches in length and pair wonderfully with the Smart Cords, which are color-coded to make finding your perfect length that much smarter!!
|
Here's A Tip!(Pun definitely intended, hehe!) By using the tightening key that comes with your Smart Cords, you will get the smoothest transition from needle tip to cord possible! Eliminating the possibility of your string-snagging makes for happy knitters!

It's officially fall, which only means one thing: CRAFTVENT IS ONLY 65 DAYS AWAY!! And we can't even begin to explain just how lucky we are to have the ultra-talented Amy Gunderson designing this year's project!
|
|
Working hard (and maybe drinking a little too much coffee for one person), she combined the likes of Madelinetosh, Hedgehog Fibres, Fyberspates, and Spun Right Round to make the super-squishy "Spirits of the Season" wrap! Each item you need for your shawl comes packaged in magnetic tins that sit neatly on a hanging metal board - that way when you're done with your project, you can reuse the tins (we've heard a few of the beans whispering about using them for organizing their craft rooms and kitchens!)!
|
Knit versions of the 2019 Craftvent Calendar are available for pre-order now in two stripe-tacular colorways: - Mulled Wine (Amy's Pick): Teal and purple with pops of pink.
- Hot Toddy (Jimmy's Pick): Jewel tones and shades of gray.
A little birdie told us that there's been some chatter hoping for a payment program for Craftvent! Well, the elves at Jimmy Beans overheard, and for the first time EVER, we will be doing a special payment program just. For. Craftvent! It's a Christmas miracle! Chopped up into three payments ($50 + Tax), you pay the first bit at the time of placing your order, the second chunk on October 21st, with your third and final payment ending between November 12th-15th, which is when it will ship out!

Project On Our Needles!
Laura's Striped Angular Shawl
Alright, someone's gotta say it - stripes will never, EVER go out of style. Laura's been hard at work on this oversized wrap and finished it just in time for bundling-up-weather. It's no secret that Laura loves cashmere, so when she saw this pattern, well, the rest is knit-story! The modern aesthetic of this project makes for a striking piece and lets the cozy, squishy feel of the yarn shine through those stripes! The luxurious feel of the yarn and generous size makes for the perfect gift (especially if it's to yourself!)!
Note: This pattern is free with the purchase of this kit! Just email support@JimmyBeansWool.com with your order number and they'll get you all taken care of.
