Revel in the Winter Games with Speckles & Stripes!
Go for the Knitting Gold!
|
|
|
The winter games are just around the corner and we've been training hard with Lorna's Laces and designer Lara Smoot (Remember our Shark Bite II KAL?!) to get ready for this year's events on February 9th with our Speckles and Stripes Sock Knit-Along. In this interactive KAL, you'll knit along with us and our USA athletes! As they add medals to their stash, we'll add faux cables to our socks, so that by the night of the Closing Ceremony, you'll have a knitted record of the number of U.S. medals won!

Olympia Sock Kits (Ships Late January)
Each kit contains 1 hank of speckled Shepherd Sock and 2 staccatos (1 red and 1 blue), along with a baggie of red and blue plastic stitch markers! After procuring your kit, head to Ravelry to purchase the pattern!
This pattern is easy enough for the advanced-beginner knitter so we'll leave the figure 8's and Fair Isle to the pros!

Blast from the Past!
We certainly have a penchant for winter sports! In 2016, to help promote the movie Eddie the Eagle, we created "E" hats, yarn-bombed Park City during Sundance, and teamed up with the producers to teach Hugh Jackman and Taron Egerton how to knit (not all heroes knit capes!).
Check out the video below!

The Fabulous Feast of Wild Men
Men and knitting - what a gold medal combination! According to the interweb, January 12th is "The Feast of Wild Men Day" and in order to celebrate we highlighted some of our favorite male knitters and their work. Head over to the blog to read up! (Unfortunately, Hugh and Taron didn't make the list... but another A-List celeb did!)

Learn to Knit!
Just like picking up a new sport, knitting takes practice! Know someone who wants to learn how to knit? We've got your bases covered with the Jimmy Beans Learn to Knit Kit! With enough yarn for two pairs of mitts, this is a great opportunity to be someone's "yarn coach". Don't have time to teach? We can sub for you with our Learn To Knit How To Videos!
