Heather knit the Madelinetosh Honey Cowl out of Tosh DK as a simple but elegant thank-you gift for her realtor for helping her and her husband find a new home! It's the perfect gift: the yarn is machine-washable and it does not need to be re-blocked after washing. Heather used just one skein of a Tosh DK Onesie in Mourning Dove to make an 'in-between' size - just long enough to be doubled for a snug neck cowl, but small enough to be tucked into the collar of a jacket. The Honey Cowl is a
free pattern on Ravelry with four different size options using 1 or 2 skeins of Tosh DK.
Because the stitch pattern is quite dense, Heather used a size US 9 needle (one size larger than the needle recommended in the pattern) to give the cowl an extra bit of drape. She also used garter stitch (knitting one row, then purling one row in the round) for the first and last few rounds of the pattern instead of the stockinette rounds called for in the pattern, because she wanted her outside edges to lay flat instead of rolling. Enjoy!
