Jennifer Evans designed this piece with her characteristic mix of romantic and rustic. The vintage smocked lace stitch is easier than it looks. And the simple rectangular shape can be worn as a poncho, a large cowl, or simply a scarf. The shrug, seamed into sleeves, drapes across your shoulders and stays in place with no fuss. Wear it over a pretty dress, or jeans and a T-shirt. Wrap: Approx. 18 x 48" / 46 x 122cm, after blocking and before buttoning. Shrug: Approx. 16 1/2 x 45" / 42 x 114cm, after blocking and before seaming. You can also view all Churchmouse Classics Patterns.
The finished product was wonderful! I plan on making more for gifts for next year. I think it would be great to use up some of the leftover skeins of fingering yarn or maybe even sport yarn.
Both my mom and I knit this pattern. I've done socks before, and found the pattern extremely easy and pleasing. She's never knit socks, or with such small needles, but still found the pattern easy to follow.
