This is a great pattern for beginners. I have been knitting for a while, but still consider myself somewhat of a beginner and like easy patterns. If that is the case for you, then this is your pattern!
This hat is so quick to knit. Like seriously maybe an hour to do. I love that it knits up so fast and so it makes a nice last minute baby gift. I didn't give a full 5 stars because I think the sizing is off. It is quite big. I knit the smallest size for my three month old and it fell off. My two year old confiscated it and it fits her perfectly. So one might need to tweak with the sizes a bit. I love the softness of the yarn but it does tend to shed if that bothers you. All in all it is a super easy hat even if you are a beginner. And is very quick to knit and just ADORABLE on little ones
I made this sweater for my son. The neckline is not crew neck. It is actually scooped front and back, which is just not what I was expecting -- either from the pattern picture or for a men's sweater.
I cannot recommend this pattern.
I used the BSA Dyed Cotton for my blanket - very soft! To get the gauge, I had to go down to 10.5 needles. One correction for the pattern that isn't on the BSA web site: For YO row B: Knit 11, YO, K2tog, *Knit 10, YO, K2tog - Repeat from * until you reach the last 11 stitches. Knit the last 11 stitches. This makes the eyelets come out even, and centered with the eyelets from YO row A. This is a beautiful blanket, but I think it may be a little difficult for beginners, unless they have support from an advanced friend, or yarnshop.
This baby blanket was a delight to knit. Although I was sceptical of the eyelets they really helped the body of the blanket sail along, and the finished result was adorable. The recommended yarn (BSA Hand-dye Worsted) is well worth buying; it is SO soft and pudgy; you really feel like you're making something for a very special baby! Do note that there are some corrections for this pattern on the BSA website (7 skeins, not 6, for one thing) and if you are substituting yarns, you want a bulky weight that knits up at 3.5 stitches to the inch, despite the somewhat misleading label of "Worsted" in the recommended yarn. This may become my signature baby gift...at least for baby girls! (The ruffles are deep and lush, so it's a rather girly blanket.)
This worked up picture perfect! It fits and looks fantastic! There is one slight mistake in the directions. as the left side should have increases at the end vs the beginning. I re-read those directions many times to see if I was misinterpreting...I went with my gut and increased at the end vs the beginning.
I think I will make this sweater in a different color. The yarn is very comfortable and soft!
