These scarves are designed to capture a sense of light and airiness, combined with a feeling of movement and flow. They were inspired by abstract color schemes and use contrasting colors to create excitement without sacrificing an underlying serenity with large blocks of color and blended transitional areas. Mohair doesn't "tink" easily and the instructions aren't lengthy. So, it's disappointing to find two show-stopping pattern errors.
1) The stitch count is [11 stitches x repeat] plus 6 stitches. So, you need to cast on 138 stitches for the wrap.
2) Rows 1 is a purl row and row 2 is a knit row. The instructions following the knit cable row say to repeat rows 1 & 2 n times and knit the cable row again. What you really need to do is make the row prior to the knit cable row a purl row.
Make the above adjustments and the finished product will be light as air and beautiful!
I ordered the Be Sweets Striped Shawl pattern for my first attempt at lace knitting. The pattern allows a choice of extra fine or medium weight yarn, and it’s not a true lace pattern with yarn over’s, but if you’re new to knitting with lace weight yarn, as I was, it’s an excellent and easy pattern to start with. The created fabric is light and airy and the finished product is truly beautiful.
