Sandy found this stitch pattern, called Mrs. Hunter's Pattern, in Barbara Walker's Treasury of Knitting Patterns. She so enjoyed learning about its history she decided to use it for this months scarf.
Note that this and several of our other Scarve to Throws patterns are designed with an extra edge stitch on both sides to make it easier to sew them together. If you are not planning on sewing them together, you can cast on two fewer stitches, and skip the edge stitches.

- Row 1 (rs): es, k26, es
- Row 2: es, p26, es
- Row 3: es, k1, *sl1, k3, psso the 3 k stitches; repeat from * until 2 stitches remain, k1, es
- Row 4: es, *p3, yo; repeat from * to last two stitches, p1, es

| Repeat rows 1-4 until the scarf measures desired length. Bind off and sew in ends. Block for its full beauty.
