Nice EYE CANDY . . . but it certainly isn't Merino!!!
(2 out of 5)
I really wanted to love this yarn. Like all knitters I was attracted to this yarn because it is such amazing 'eye candy'. But if I were a color blind, this would NOT be the first yarn that I would grab. It doesn't feel very good to knit with. It is single ply - which makes the yarn incredibly uneven in thickness throughout the skein. It is very difficult to count your rows as you are knitting - because of the variance in thickness. The yarn on the skein that I have ranged in thickness from lace weight to heavy worsted weight. The yarn is relatively stiff to work with as you are knitting - and there are bits of organic matter that need to be picked out once in a while. For a commercially produced yarn, I would expect the thickness and organic matter to not be an issue. I have homespun yarn from friends who drop spindle, and that yarn is much more uniform than the Kureyon sock yarn. I made socks out my yarn. After blocking, the yarn is considerably softer than right off the skein, but it did 'pill' more I would have liked to see. I might knit with it again only because the colors are so beautiful. The quality of the yarn is NOT what I had hoped for.
