Not blanket yarn!
(2 out of 5)
I was so excited for this club but there is no way this is worsted weight yarn. It’s so soft, slick and floppy. At gauge, there’s no way this fabric is going to support the weight of a blanket. I can get a decent fabric by dropping down to a 5 mm hook but then my squares are an inch and a half too small. What a disappointment.
This yarn is very thin and lightweight, I would not call it worsted weight. I ordered this blanket in Romantic. I just received my first yarn color, it's called Fig In the instructions but there is no name on the yarn band just a color number and it's an extremely deep dark plum. In the instructions you make 3 squares and start the center circle. I am extremely upset that this is not the heather pink as shown for this Item. I believe I was sent a different color kit. I am not happy with this. I fully expect to make the blanket as shown but this is clearly not the same. I switched from Annie's Kit club because they took away all the beautiful colors they offer are all plain & neutral for my taste. I found this and was excited to get started.
I want to know why I am getting a different color pattern here.
First, the yarn is a lite 3 in my opinion, not a worsted or wt 4. It does split so you have to work slow. Second, the first color sent, if you are doing the Berroco acrylic, is the center color, supposedly. You are to work 3 blocks and the center circle in this color. It is a deep purple/red. The pattern states that it is Fig. The ball of yarn has no color name, only a number 9797, which I am unable to fine on the website. So, the color that most went with my decor, that seemingly rosy color that I see in the pictures, apparently is not a part of this blanket. Maybe they are using the wood yarn pictures for both romantic wool and acrylic? So, I guess we will all be surprised each month by the colors that will be sent. Should name it Surprise blanket. Also, I thought there would be some teaching, as in a video to follow, but if there is I don't see one. Not even Creative Grandma who was paid to promote this blanket is doing a tutorial, which I find odd. But, this is my first experience with these Blanket Clubs. I can eventually understand what a writer puts in their patterns, but this one is not the best I've ever worked with. If you cannot read patterns, you are not going to be able to make this blanket. Since I'm just getting started, I gave this a 3 star, because I have a hum sort of thought about it.
