Jumped on this right away-love cascade yarn and the colors are beautiful (esp.) Poppy Fields. Downloaded the patterns specific for this yarn-then had a hard time finding one that looked good in the advised guage and needle size. And as previous reviewer stated-it does come apart very easily. If it would not make it too costly, would advise two skeins held together and a size nine needle. I can't afford to do that-so guess this is one Cascade yarn I will have to write off. Boo Hoo. |

Soon as it became available at JBW I ordered a skein of red to make a scalloped cowl. I used the free pattern from the Cascade website. Anyway, I really tried to give this yarn a fair chance! First off, it is not soft to the touch. So I figured once it's blocked it will soften up. Then as I start to wind it I notice how fragile the yarn is. You could actually pull it apart in pieces with not much effort. I went ahead and made my cowl. I just didn't knit very tight for fear of it breaking. The cowl came out lovely, the color variations are beautiful. Unfortunately, it didn't soften up after a nice soak and blocking. I'm thinking maybe I got a bad skein. I might purchase again, but I would definately have to have it in my hand to check out the quality. |
